i'm going to give the bike a good look at this weekend.

there is a bit of noise from the front sprocket area when pull away in first and also if i'm off the gas in a higher gear and then get back on the gas.
it only happens at low revs (1-3k) and isnt apparent at higher revs.

I regularly oil the chain but i have not adjusted the chain slack for a while.

i will pop the chain off and check for any play on the front/rear sprockets and also have a look at the chain.

anything else to keep an eye out for ?

the bike is a 2004 CBF600

that is something I'm going to check tomorrow.

However when getting ready to leave work and i noticed this

the center stand is actually making contact with the chain.
when i move it off the side stand there is a gap of half an inch between the center stand and the chain.

while the chain may be a little slack i cant help but suspect there sound be more than half an inch clearance.

i will correctly tension the chain tomorrow and also see if there should be a mechanical stop on the center stand.

Guessing the chain may be skipping/flexing due to stiff links possibly (with a loose / tight spot).
And hitting the centre stand.

With the bike on the side stand the slack was 40mm.
the manual says 30-40mm so i have adjusted it closer to 30mm.

the rubber stopper on the center stand was all but fallen off.
i have replaced it with a bolt and a couple of nuts so it can be adjusted.

Let see how it is on the way to work tomorrow.

Losing the stopper makes a lot of difference because the center stand is too high unless you are sitting on the bike.

I have a CBF 500 and I lost my stopper, don't bother with an original part, make your own, I found a bung, made a hole in it and bolted it on.
However even with a locknut it managed to loosen so if you make your own like I did, check on it now and again.

I would of said something earlier but I wasn't aware the CBF600 had a stopper after checking the microfiche

i make you right....
replaced the failed stopper with a bolt and two nylock nuts.
i will check it at the weekend to make sure its secure.

its a lot less noisy now...so job was jobbed.
