Hi guys,

Looking for suggestions on helmets and head shapes.

Currently using a Shark Evo 2 which I've had for too long. Unfortunately, it made contact with road last week which gives me a very good excuse to replace it.

Called in Ghost Bikes in Preston today and tried on pretty much every make of helmet they had - ideally I want a face up but I also tried full face. The only one that fit me correctly was a Shoei Neotec 2. Now, if that is the only option, I will fork out the £££ for that, but I was hoping that someone here might have some idea of other helmet with a similar fit/shape on a tighter budget.

I know that the Shoei is a good helmet, and you do get what you pay for, but other options would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Si

FYI the Neotec (presumably last year's model?) is on sale at J&S at the moment

Thanks - had seen those elsewhere as well.

I had gone in to look at the IS Max which is under £200. Even £400 was more than I intended to spend

Just got a neotec 2 to replace my neotec. Yes, its pricey, but, it's way quieter than the first one. It's a p/j which first one isn't and the vents are even better. It's the only flip that fits me comfortably too, I have, I think, tried on almost every flip/system helmet over past 4 years and only shoei and schuberth fit.

AGV would be a good helmet to start, K3 or the K5 or perhaps A scorpion helmet. I used to wear Shoei till they stopped the quick release... (*fuckers*)

Thanks - obviously, a replacement Shark wouldn't be a bad option

I'd avoid the AVG K3-SV, pinlocks last about a week and don't hold a seal well. Also the visor has a tendency to drop down every time you hit a bump You get what you pay for I suppose...

Well I'm on my second K3 SV and I've never had those problems.

Not sure if going to get another AGV K5-sv either, really like the design and fit for me but the quality is a bit wank... Sun visor came loose and had to be removed after about 7 months, same as the K3's pinlocks dont last long. Front clip to slightly keep the visor open came off too, not that impressive for the price.

Shark can suck a dick. They had an inherent fault with the visor and refused to replace mine after it broke, despite telling me that it was a known fault. Laughing

They had the cheek to ask for £80 for a visor. Neutral
