Nice. I had a test ride on a ZZR before I bought my Busa. Slightly more touring biased. Both bikes got much much more power than possibly you or I will ever use - but it won't stop us trying!
Enjoy ! ____________________ Swansea area

Coming towards a month in now and i have to admit, it's not love...more, lust. The big Zed is quite....agricultural lower down and compared to my VFR doesn't feel as refined. You can easily see the build quality just doesnt hold a candle to the Honda even in the simple things like bolts. The Honda, everything just....fits. Bolts will just go in even if you hamfist it. On the Kawasaki, you can feel it's made of cheese, a bolt will strip in a hearbeat.
Under 100mph this thing really isn't anything special, it's a big lump but is actually very civilised even pootling around town. The thing is, it doesn't come alive until you hit 120mph. Once you're up there it just opens up like a raging demon and doesn't stop. You can, and will, lose your license so easily. 100mph actually feels like you're doing 60. It's almost like it's constantly whispering in your ear..."faster.....faaaaster"
Now that I've got the VFR fettled and working Im in a bit of a quandry, the Zed needs to prove to me she's the one to keep. For my daily commute the gas mileage is awful, the VFR isn't doing well with what I do Monday to Friday either but this thing....jeeze. I have a feeling this thing might turn out to be just something I needed to get out of my system to say, "yes, I've had one"
I'll wait while Spring to make my mind up I think, the shitty weather means it's hard to get the best out of the Zed. ____________________ Current bikes: '08 VFR 800 VTEC(yo) , '07 ZZR1400 Winter hack: '95 Aprilia 650 Pegaso Currently lusting after: RC30 |

Though I have zero experience of them and I'm not qualified to offer an opinion or view, what your saying about the biggest Zed is pretty much exactly what I'd have expected.
I do know of one guy that has one and it's his work commuter, and I met a builder geezer on a new housing side in September, and he had one, and again was riding it to work. I think it had a luggage rack and different screen too.
Just seems odd to me that more than one person I've seen with them is commuting on them as a daily rider. I just can't think of how a heavy and Aerodynamic 1.4L bike that munches tyres rapidly, is even considered as a daily bike?
Another bloke my dad knew had one, but he was an IAM group rider, and he got a nice pre VTEC VFR 800 as a second bike, and he said most of the time it was a much better ride and more suitable bike for most situations.
I guess all ZZR owners only have them, because they just want one and that's that! The one thing that the big 1400 and bikes like it are great at, is not something you can really do in the UK, and in my mind if your going to pay out to own and maintain a fast two up continent muncher, you need to be getting your money's worth out of it?
The pub and back riders, or even the road legal drag race competitor's probably don't get their monies worth out them when you add up the running costs IMO. |

Two of my mates have had one. One sold it after 6 months, bought back his old Blackbird and dropped 2 months wages worth of ohlins bits in it. He is happy with his decision.
The other sold his after a year and bought a striple which he liked then chopped that in for a tiger which he also likes but gives him less earache from the wife on the back.
Both the striple and the tiger consistantly use WAY less fuel than my VFR750 over exactly the same route with them both going considerably faster than I can (not for want of trying).
Both the striple and the tiger have been left stranded with charging system failures. Which is embarassing when they are riding with a VFR. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
