What do you think of the suzuki sv650s? I think that it looks great(03+ version) and it has good acceleration it just lacks top end as it is a Vtwin , although after market parts can help with this and boost the top end to almost 150 and it needs an aftermarket can as the standard one kills the great v twin sound. Good , Bad , Fun , Boring???? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I prefer the older shape ones with the more tubular frame on it. Although I like the unfaired 03 models too Thumbs Up. Never rode one, but man there loud with a race can!

So, no middle ground option? It's not a bike I'd say no to, but I wouldn't cover it in Gentleman's Relish, either.

It's not a bike you love or hate. They're OK.

I too need a third option.

I love it. Although the newer versions I'm not too fond of. Still like them but they're just a bit too angular for my liking. Give me the old S model with the full fairing, in black, any day Cool

A good run around or begginer bike.

Lacks go, as with most twins.

Quite nice, but there's just something about them which makes me not quite so keen. It could be that everyone and his dog has one. Oh, it's also not a Kwak. Razz

V-twin goood, Suzuki, meh. Would prefer a Transalp or maybe even a NTV myself.

All a matter of opinion Smile.

Personally I prefer the sound of a high revving 4; sounds more purposefull and like it actually makes more than 10hp Smile.

You race bikes though. Razz I'm more interested in getting somewhere still able to walk upright and being relatively relaxed on the way. Very Happy The sound of a V-twin can only be beaten by a Chevvy V8 or Merlin V16 imo.

Mind you, I'll be a hypocrite for a second and admit that I'd quite like an I4 250 to rev up to 20k. Laughing

I really don't like the riding position on the SV650s, I had a go on my friends SV in my ickle back garden and I was feeling pain in my back for days lol. I do like the SV650S 03+ fully faired but I couldn't own one.

I like them.. sound great and good to ride. Thumbs Up Some look pretty good too, depends on the paint job. But then I really like vtwins so I'm bound to like SV's and so on. They may not be as fast as R6's and GSXR's but they're fast enough for road use and you can push them a bit without doing silly silly speeds. They are also comfy and lots of aftermarket stuff available if you want stuff.. spares are easily available too. I like them because you can commute on one happily all week, then go and have weekend fun too Cool

Thought the same before I raced bikes (ie last week Smile ).

Had the opportunity to hear the start for several different classes.
The sound of 40 SVs gunning it off the start was the least impressive in my opinion.

Even the MZs sounded better I reckon Smile.

If I wanted to be relaxed when I get to my destination I wouldn't choose a V-Twin with a loud pipe; at least a 4 can be moderately quiet if you don't rev it.

Yeah but a vtwin with stock can isn't exactly loud anyway. Stick a race can on a IL 4 and it can still be very loud..........

I'd rather have a comet 650, just a personal taste (I always go for a carb over fuel injection-comes from my Dad's love of american cars)

My first comment was in relation to the comment about sticking a scorpion can on it.

A v-twin tends to be loud throughout the rev range, while the 4 is relatively louder at the top end.

I've never worn earplugs for a 'relaxing ride' Smile.

General noise through a helmet for any prolonged period of time will damage the hearing, therefore i wear mine everytime i go further than the petrol station.
