Maybe i was a little spoilt with my shitmoto. As I could get a set of tyres for the thing for roughly 80 quid...

Now my er6f, there is a little tread left on them so its not like they need replacing RIGHT NOW! but the back tyre does seem to have a slow puncture.

But on a quick google it looks like a set of tyres would cost a little over 200 quid D:

Is that right? That was me checking on Mytyres.

Is there a cheaper place to go for decent tyres, or is this just the normal cost of big bike tyres?

Sounds about right. about £80-90 for a front, £100-120 for a rear for a middle sized bike like that.

you need to say where you are in the country?

in the midlands (coleshill) there's wheelhouse tyres

the black country north of Birmingham there's Addison tyres in tipton

Wrexham there's demon tweeks

Telford there's sticky stuff

all these guys specialise in tyres

you need to find a specialist, most shops just can't get the big discounts because they're not selling thousands, I can buy tyres as cheap on ebay as a trader I know

£185 for a set of PR3 to fit your bike

https://www.oponeo.co.uk/moto-tyre-details/michelin-pilot-road-3-120-70zr17-58-w-front-tl-m-c#183065464

https://www.oponeo.co.uk/moto-tyre-details/michelin-pilot-road-3-160-60zr17-69-w-rear-tl-m-c#184396606

Factor another £15-20 for a fitter to fit them to a set of loose wheels.

But they are the work of Satan and should be shredded, not used.

Diablo are good, what variant though?

Work fine for what I need, done thousands of miles on them even towing a trailer with the missus on the back and they're still good Smile

Never had them slip out on me either - why don't ya like them?

I hate BT021...

They are like riding on wood, they also wear badly and have the worst wet grip I've ever experienced...

Agree. Diablos are about the best road tyres out there. That exact model aren't made any more, so check the date on them, but otherwise they will be excellent.

ive always bought part worns off ebay ensuring that theres a minium thread of 5mm

or ive gone to FWR in kennington and had part worn/puncture pairs supplied & fitted for £40 by them

tyres for my honda msx only cost £30 brand new from the internet so those i get brand new as £60 for pair is ace!!!
shops are asking £120 for a pair............fook that.
The guys who normally fits my tyres charges me less than a tank of petrol for fitting

I have not bought brand new tyres for any of my big bikes since 2005

Fair enough, I've not experienced that in the last 2 sets.

Fortunate, but I'd rather take the 023 than the 021, and even the 023 don't give me that much confidence...

What's the difference? Like I say I've had no problems riding this in snow, on ice, in the rain - the only time I've ever had it step out on me was in gravel coming off a roundabout as I was marshalling a wedding so caning to get in front of everyone, and joining the M1 in the wet going over the massive arrow in the road and planting the power - my fault lol.

She's towed a trailer plenty with the weight of the trailer directly onto the rear wheel (rather than suspended on the subframe or similar) and I don't tend to get odd wear (even with the odd burnout thrown in)

Which is £130 on eBay for 120/160. Can do a lot worse if you're on a budget

One has a 3?

I jest, I don't use Bridgestones anymore, purely because they felt like arse after the 014... I've had odd wear on the 021 fronts and never felt inspired by the 023, obviously other peoples opinions vary and riding styles get taken in to account... I ride like a prick, so would expect my usage differs greatly to yours. Laughing

I used to ride like a prick lol. Still like to get the pegs down in the twisties, just a bit more careful where I do it now lol.

Just never thought of them as bad tyres is all, generally been pleased with them.

Spose when I get the next set I'll have a look round and see what other people are using, see if I notice much of a difference.

Have a look at M and P, cheapest set £109, most expensive £174 free shipping....

I recently paid £230 for a pair of PR3s on the Bandit 1250.

That was a ride in / ride out service at FWR.

Happy with that. Very Happy

I recently bought a Dunlop Roadsmart 3 for the rear of my er6f. Cost around £130 including fitting.

I use the bike for commuting and a bit of fun. So far I can't fault it although I've not had chance to open the bike up properly with it on yet.

Imo tyres are one thing you shouldn't skimp on as it could cost you more when you're sliding down the road on your backside, listening to your bike being scratched to buggery ahead of you.
