So here's the situation. Nearly 2 years ago I bought a new MT-07 on my A2 license. Because I was a good boy, I bought the recommended Euro-bollocks A2 'from the factory' option. This was, in hindsight, perhaps not wise.

I like my bike very much, and I want to keep it. However, I'll be doing my full A sometime over the next couple of months and it'd be nice to be able to de-ristrict my bike back to the full fat 55kW version. Does anyone have experience of deristricting one of these 'factory fit' A2 bikes? I believe it's just a different ECU map, but I expect there may be anti-tamper gubbins. Plus, all the registration docs describe it as a Yamaha MT-07 (35KW), which I guess may be an issue.

So BCF, what do?

Sell, MT09, job done?

Probably an ECU restricted bag of aids. Can always ask a dealer... or even an ECU flashing place Wink

+1. Dealer, or talk to a local tuning place about fitting a Power Commander of similar which should bypass the buggering if it's purely an ECU restriction.

First thing I'd do though is have a look at the throttle body and see if there's an obvious throttle stop on it.

Hmm, good points. I expect it is doable via a powercommander or similar, I just wonder whether it's worth the effort? Ideally I would like to keep the bike for at least another year or so, but eventually I will want to move it on, and I don't know what the implications would be value wise of a non-approved fix? If there is an 'official' fix, then I'll go with that, if not, I might have to swap it after all.

As for taking the A tests on my bike, yeah, I had considered that actually. Can't imagine they'd question it. Just rock up, do the usual fiddle under the seat jobby, do test, ride home. Would be cheaper than going through a school again and I can't imagine it'd be an issue.

I think the yamaha restrictor is something in the handlebar throttle housing thingy.

From what i have seen the MT 07 just has a plate on the throttle linkage which stops you opening it wide.

You could be riding at full powah now if you'd gone and looked. Razz

Of course do your A tests on your own bike, I thought that was a given.

Quick update on this gents,

I've finally had the chance to take a look at the bike, and I have exactly the same throttle restrictor plate as described by Rhys above. Looks like a simple swap is all that's reqiured, although I will enquire with a main dealer to see if the ecu is different as well.

Thanks for the help!

A.

I wonder if a hacksaw would be cheaper to buy than a replacement plate Thinking
