This is just an idea.
I had the front wheel off one of my bikes this morning.
For a cast wheel, it was/is quite heavy.
That got me thinking about lighter replacement wheels.

So apart from going to the breakers for smaller heels in the past when building my motoball bikes, I have no idea where to start.

So oh mighty BCF, who makes/supplies aftermarket wheels?
How much did you pay?
Was it worth it?

Just interested, thanks Thumbs Up

Dymag make lightweight magnesium alloy and carbon fibre aftermarket motorcycle wheels.

The CF tend to cost about £2500+ per set, alloy about £1800+.

What bike?
There may be other wheels that slot in - for instance the facelift first gen Daytona 675 rear slots straight into the pre-facelight bike, but weighs a chunk less.

Ahh, see , now there’s the thing?
I had the wheel out of the mighty Hyosung GT250r, but it got me thinking about the Kawasaki ZX6R .

And, thank you for the link Mr Brago, but £2500–1800 Shocked that’s more than either bike is worth Sad

I had the wheels off my ZX6R to have them painted. Stripped of everything they were impressively light. The real weight comes when you add a couple of steel brake discs, and then tyres.

It doesn't bode well when you realise they've taken the exact Arai logo and stuck "sh" in the middle. Or was it a joke?

The problem with a lot of Chinese stuff is they've no quality control function so they'll ship anything out. You might be lucky and get a good one but you can't tell. When the Chinese manufacture stuff for other companies they are subject to their QC department checks so what you're getting from Honda or whoever is more dependable. If/when they get QC into their mindset Chinese industry will be unbeatable.

I have heard of Arashi before. I had a set of engine covers rear sets and brake levers by them. Seemed good quality, if it fit i would not have any issue with using their wheels. They probably OEM for one of the big 4.

Hyosung are south Korean.I had a 650 comet for a while, easily as well built as any of the suzuki machines i have had but that is to be expected as they used to manufacture a lot of suzuki`s parts.
They might only be built a few hundred miles from china, but the difference in quality cannot be compared.

A couple of hundred pounds a wheel, now seems realistic for me if there was to be a noticeable weight saving.

And no, Hyosung are NOT Chinese !!! Twisted Evil Laughing
