Just wondering if it would be possible at all just out of curiosity if nothing else. Some of us don't so buying a second bike you are restricted to delivery companies.

Idea would possibly be a bike trailer where the front wheel is raised and locked in. With the back wheel still sitting on the ground with two wheels on the trailer at the back like stabilizers.

Most probably be crazy to do but wondering if it would be actually possible.

It would be possible, but illegal.
You might just about be able to put a small moped on to tow but not much more.

Probably cheaper to get a train and a taxi to the vendor and then ride the bike home

Not if you're in the market for terminal non runners that you'll leave rusting away in your garden, dragging down property values.

Just use the above link and see what it will cost you. I managed to get a bike delivered from Bristol to South Dorset for £69. I think I was lucky and the guy had a job in the area anyway, but you might get lucky too.

What you are suggesting is probably the most difficult way of getting the bike to you possible, short of pushing it back home.

Those photos show that it's physically possible however https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-motorcycle shows that it's not legit in this country.

Would towing with a motorcycle skip the requirement for the towed vehicle's brakes on the wheels in contact with the ground to be activated along with the towing vehicle's brakes?

Most probably was a bad plan in the end, shame about the laws in this country. I've got 4 bikes at my house currently; one has been sold and I'm storing it till the owner can collect it locally. Another was sold on ebay.

The other two; one is a working project with mot that is being turned into a cafe racer then sold and the other is my every day bike.

So far from buying the bikes and selling them on I've made £700. So they aren't just sitting there rusting away. I'm just purchasing another to sell on as well. Nothing wrong with making a bit of cash if you can get something cheap enougha and know how they work.

That's what the latest sale is going towards.

If it's a total shed and you're obviously taking the piss then it won't work. Razz

Insurance or ownership are of no concern to the recovery guy who comes to collect you and your bike.

I know a guy who used to take his GasGas toy to the quarry on a trailer behind his goldwing.
They only weigh like 70 kgs tho so well under weight.
I suppose it depends a lot on the bike ? Ie my mates crf sm is light as feck.

Pretty much.

"The trailer must be no more than 1 metre wide and must be clearly and permanently marked with its unladen weight.

When the trailer is loaded it must weigh no more than 150 kilograms or 2/3 of the kerbside weight of the motorbike - whichever is lighter.

When hitched, the distance between the end of the trailer and the rear axle of the motorbike must be no more than 2.5 metres."
