I know the information I am about to give you is a bit vague but it's all I have for now because of the language barrier. Evil or Very Mad

Honda cb 600

Honda cbr 600

Because of the price I'm guessing that both bikes are mid to late 90's models. I'm hoping to take a look at and test tomorrow but would like to get some general advice from anybody who knows anything about either bike to help with my decision.

Thanks in advance

Im living in Seoul Korea which has lots of big highways and long distances from one side of the city to the other.
So I need it for general city commuting every day keeping in mind possible long rides at the weekends.

The reason why it has to be one of these 2 bikes is that a Korean friend who is connected with the dealer is getting me a good deal and these are the bikes available.

Well do you have the money to replace fairings etc if you come off?

For general city commuting I'd get the CB600 it is a more upright seating position making it more comfortable and easy to manourveure a bike around a city.

The CB600 also has enough power (detuned CBR engine) to enjoy long rideouts and stuff. It's up to what you feel comfortable with though.

They have pretty much the same engine, similar wheels, brakes, suspension..

Basically the bikes are very similar, the difference being that the CBR600 has a fairing and sportier riding position.

Go for whichever one you prefer, theres not really a better bike out of them.

Korea eh. Got a sister?

I'd go for something with much better fuel consumption to be honest. Thats if the cb600's consumption hasn't been sorted in the latest revision.

Thanks lads I was swinging towards the cbr because all the 90's models got such good reviews on the net.
But If you say they are basically the same except for the fairing and seating position then the cb might be the more sensible choice.

It's not a fuel consumption problem, it's just got a smaller tank so carries less fuel.

The cb uses a detuned cbr engine, so the consumption can't be that different, if anything the cbr should be worse per gallon.

It depends how much you want to spend insuring it. Laughing
Surely a CBR6 would be much more to insure than a CB6...

I say get a CBR, Much better looking, faster, sound nicer and go better! Cool

Personally i would say the CBR but thats just my opinion, I think that you would have more fun on the CBR rather than the CB as it would be a much better track day tool and better for them sunday rides. The CB is the more sensible option but for me motorcycling is about fun although the CB will be better on them long rides with the more relaxed riding position.

Personally the CBR wins hands down on looks and fun factor but it depends on personal prefrence and what your going to do on the bike. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Personally I would go for the CBR600F as the riding position isn't too bad and would probably be ok for commuting, I've just recently put a deposit on a CBR600F sport, little more aggressing riding position but still quite comfutable. Also if your going to use it for long distances aswell I would suggest getting fairings as going at 60mph with the wind hitting your chest gets really annoying after a while.

This is really an impossible question for us to answer. Both bikes are ok, go with what you like best.
