Hi guys, so, I'm thinking about getting another bike. Again. I've been here before. I don't have a bike licence and my CBT has expired. I had a crack at the mod 1 test and failed. The school I went with rushed my training imo. I'm a bit scared of anything bigger than a 125. What do you guys think? Shall I do my full test and go for a bigger bike or get another 125 and get some more experience over the summer?

If you can go for a big boys license, do it. With a decent school you will wonder what you were worried about.

125's are over priced and underpowered and more difficult to ride than say a 500/600 (not including R6's and the like in that statement).

The ONLY reason I can see to keep a 125 is to commute, and even then I'd rather a scoot.

Jump through the hoops one by one and get whatever you want once you've got a full license.

Digging your heels in on a tiddler prior to getting a license only drains funds and makes it harder to move on when, inevitably, you're ready for something else.

Full licence. You can still ride small bikes after you pass if you want, but I'll bet you don't want to for some time!

Bigger bikes are more stable, have better brakes, and have more road presence so other road users don't bully you. They are scarier initially as they are a lot more powerful, but the point is to be taught how to control it.

If you can control the throttle of a 450 quad then there's no reason why you can't with a big bike. Just take it easy on corners until you get more comfortable.

If you don't find your first time on a big bike exhilarating, I'll be astounded.
