Nice buy, looks good from the pic.

I'd love a 2t 250, bet it handles extremely well, and has the potential to put out about 50bhp?

It has the potential to put ot 90bhp.
In that state of tune it also has to potential to do an impression of a hand grenade Laughing

Most make around 60bhp, but the tarty cans on that one should help a little bit.

Great bike, but be careful. That one is getting on a bit and they can quickly turn into complete money pits! Embarassed

As soo as you get it home get the powervavles out of it, inspect clean them, make sure their put in the right way, then set up the servo's
Next balance the carbs.
I had 3 powervavles snap on mine, you wouldnt believe the mess they make when they go into the engine Sick

Enjoy laughing your head off as you piss past everything down twisty back roads Very Happy Thumbs Up

They're great little bikes, but just don't expect anyone to want to go on the pillion - my backside's still sore at the thought of being on the back of Andy's RGV a few years back!

Thing is, they all go bang sometime or another and it's hard to determine when. I'd be tempted to buy the more expensive running one, but start budgeting for a rebuild. Can go pop anytime so it seems Confused

Missing piece?

Your missing a left bar end and a rear hugger from what i can see. But it came with the V piece, and their a bastard to get hold of, lucky git! Laughing

Rebuilding the engine is no problem, parts cost £150. you just need to make sure that the barrels and gearbox are good and your sorted.

Nice one, had the same model myself....

https://www.walesbikers.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/MauPics/rgv250/normal_rgv2.jpg

Cracking bike, was costing me too much to run in the end though.

That model isn't too bad for reliability actually. Mine only blew up cos I pushed it about 5000 miles past its top-end rebuild service interval. It's the later 91-93 models that gave it the reputation for the powervalve-induced blow ups.

[edit]Oh and 90bhp from a VJ21... Laughing
That's why they're still dominating SS400 club racing isn't it Razz Because no 400 could ever crack that and they weigh more Smile
