The notion of a semi-literate like you getting a degree of any sort makes me want to heave. 99% of Universities are now simply sausage factories that rake in the 9K/year fees and curl out 'graduates' of the quality of this cabbage - genuinely depressing.

Shit questions. Learn to phrase and use questions better. You're not getting a degree if those questions are any indication.

It's also polite to introduce yourself, as we're bikers, telling us what/when/where you ride is a bare minimum.

In short - Feck off and ram your market research on other unsuspecting souls.

No. Nothing. Pictures of Cats.

Yes. Yes.

Some places round here are pretty common. Is that where the motorcycles were stolen from?

izush wrote:

4. Do you know that motorcycle accidents are higher than ever? Why do you think more motorbike accidents happen?

If they are higher than ever, then it's probably down to riders passing out at altitude.

Your mum.

Yes. Also other things.

Print is dead.

Apparently so is basic literacy. If English is not your first language, I am sorry. You're missing out on so much. If it is, I'd suggest that you go back to primary school and start over.

Haters wrote:
Dear Fellow bikers! {Begs question. so what do you ride then?}

I decided to do my Final Major Project about bikes. As biking community is huge {Err.. 60 million souls in the UK, half of them have a car licence, and there's more cars than folks licenced to drive them; Less than 1% of taxed road-vehicles are bikes, and half of them are mopeds and scooters... So.... 150,000 bikers.... or there-abouts.... that's HUGE?!?! More people regularly go dangle a bit of string in a muddy puddle trying to outwit a fish! More people regularly play on-line X-box games, and spend more hours doing so! But biking is 'massif!'.. it's all relative I suppose} I decided to ask you guys to help me a bit to decided what I should do and get some insights on others people opinion.

I would much appreciate your help, if you could spare few minutes just too answer few questions which will help me a lot with my project. {Oh no another lazy student wanting us to do their home-work for them....}

1. Do you subscribe to any motorcycle magazines? What do you like about them? and what do you think is missing?
{four or five subscriptions a month, so I always had something to read on the crappa.. has dwindled to nowt, as they all started to regurgitate the same crud, and add a new Ducatti to the photo's}

2. Are you aware of the increase of motorbike thefts?
{What increase in bike thefts? London Congestion charges etc have seen the number of bikes on UK roads more than double in the last decade. Most of them not 'bikes' but learner legal 125's, mopeds and scooters. More 'people' would suggest more thieves, more motorcycles, would suggest more bikes for them to nick. Per person, per motorcycle, IS there actually more bike-theft? A-N-D even if there IS, is the rate of bike theft actually increased more than other crime, like house breaking, or car theft, or muggings? I am not so convinced...}
Do you secure your bike?
{Why do you assume I only have one? And what is 'secure'? Taking the ignition key out? Using the OE steering lock? Turning on an elecic alarm? Using a disc-lock on the front wheel? Chaining it to a railing with a QE" anchor cable? What?}

3. Are you aware of the most common places were scooters/ motorcycles are stolen?
{Other than my house? Yeah.. anywhere that there's a lot of people, and a lot of thieves, and a lot of bikes for them to nick!!! Like London where number of mopeds, scooters and learner-legals has increased disproportionately to try beat Congestion-Charges!!!!}

4. Do you know that motorcycle accidents are higher than ever? Why do you think more motorbike accidents happen?
{ARE THEY?!?! More so than car accidents? Again, if you compare to the number of bikes and other traffic on the road, and cut up the stats to suit, you can actually show that bike acciudents are FALLING! Biggest drop in bike accidents in the last 30 years came with Compulsary-Basic-Training... Learners still go fall off... and a heck of a lot of thier accidents are never recorded, as there's no police or ambulance attendance or insurance claim to be made. Where police or ambulance get in on the act, an awful lot of the assumed motorcycle accidents are not riding ROAD vehicles, LEGALLY on the ROAD... many are leisure accidents, untrained, unqualified riders crashing into trees and stuff OFF road... often in places they have no legal right to ride. More that may happen on the road, similarly turn out to be untrained, unlicenced riders, often on illegal off-road bikes, or machines that do not meet C&U regs for the road, frequently illegally procured, and ridden without legally mandatory for the road, 'safety-apparel'.. weed them out the stats, and lump the leisure accidents with other's, like folk falling in fishing ponds, or off ladders doing DIY, or shooting themselves in the foot trying to do a post-office-blag with a sawn off-shot-gun.. ARE there REALLY more motorcycle accidents? again, I am not convinced. Higher degrees of training, tighter control on licences, and machinary, have in the last twenty five years actually seen a per-participant-per-participant-hour DROP in motorcyucle accidents.... A-N-D still of those that remain, largest proportion are 'spikes' in the hystogram, of barely-trained and over-exhuberant CBT 'Learners' not qualified riders, and over-exhuberant new riders soon after passing tests for bigger bikes. Chuck in a tendancy for legal riders to now regularly buy and use dedicated biker wear and protective apparel, along with large improvements in the effectiveness of that apparel, and the 'injury' stats are STILL way out of line with reality.. folk are being admitted for cuts and bruises and broken bones, when thirty years ago they'd be DEAD.... a-n-d STILL how many of them are there? Number of folk on bikes, on the roads has increased... more is gonna fall off! Mobilke phones in every-ones pocket, means that more are goung to result in a 999-call, and turbo-charged transit vans, mean more are going to be swept up in the meat waggon, and be taken to casualty, to a) actually get put in the stats; b) get treated c) more 'succesfuly.. ie before they get dead!

5. What made you to start riding?
{Genetics, I think.... probably a bright Red BSA or shiny Honda 'four' I spotted as a toddler!}

6. Do you prefer looking at things that are digital or print?
{I preffer looking at things that are sort of pink and squidgy and wobble when they walk! Next question?}

A massive thank you to anyone that will spare their time.
Don't flatter yourself, I have the time to spare.... you obviously dont, to do your own home-work, or even research the questions you want to ask properly, to get even vaguely meaningful answers!!!!

I think if they'd taken just a couple of minutes to search student survey on this forum, they'd have had a good idea what to expect.

nope, don't subscribe, don't like them, what's missing is anything for a bloke who just plods to work on his bike and enjoys riding it and doesn't give a jot about anything else bike related

Quote:

2. Are you aware of the increase of motorbike thefts? Do you secure your bike?

Social media makes us more aware of theft, especially the jumping people at traffic lights kind of theft, can't easily secure against someone shoving you off at the lights.

Quote:

3. Are you aware of the most common places were scooters/ motorcycles are stolen?

what are you actually trying to ask here?

Quote:

4. Do you know that motorcycle accidents are higher than ever? Why do you think more motorbike accidents happen?

That's fine, I don't ride up hills so I'm safe.

more accidents happen as cars have more to distract the driver from the actual job of driving, the shell of a car is chunkier too, my first car the A pillar (windscreen pillar) was only a few inches thick the pillar on the wife's current car is about 10 inch thick, nice big blindspot

Quote:

5. What made you to start riding?

being quoted £62 a week to park at work, screw that, bought bike and parked for free

you're welcome
