Just got back from a camping motorcycle trip. Everything worked out fine apart from the crap 'self inflating' bed which had me waking up in the night with completely dead arms on the side I was laying because it didnt provide any decent cushioning.
Looking for something which packs fairly small and isnt massively expensive.

Therm-a-rest.

Not cheap, but you want one that isn't crap - Mountain Warehouse do one that stays inflated, doesn't slide and is ok for 30-40, but it's not a patch on a proper one.

Have you got the Thermarest hint yet?
I've got an old original type which is a bit thin if you're a bit of a chunky monkey but they do make some Expedition base camp type things nowadays that are quite substantial in depth (and price).
Only buy the cheaper shit if you're willing to compromise on comfort and longevity.

I think mine is vango and it's ok. but I need a second one as going camping with the missus so gonna take the opportunity to get a thermarest (prob the neo air). I have heard that the neo air is a bit noisy though. I've also heard really good things about Roben which is a bit cheaper but still around 100

Ultralight ones usually have a much shorter warranty and are not advised for Pie lovers.
