We all know someone who would love to ride a bike – and from today they haven’t got an excuse not to give it a go. MCN has teamed up with BSM training schools to offer FREE one-hour training sessions in April.

It’s part of our new GoGoGo! campaign to get people riding this summer, and it’s the ideal way to get your mate – or your missus – on a motorbike. It won’t cost a penny and there’s no commitment.

I got my mate his CBT for his birthday last year but he's done sqwat all about getting his licence. Good idea though but a free 1 hours sessions is only the tip of the iceberg.

Some folk might get hooked and some won't.

On another note, I wouldn't want my GF to ride, just incase something happened to her. And if she got her licence, I wouldn't want her nicking my bike!

I don't think that one hour is enough time for most newbies to learn how to do very much other than just about understand the biting point of the clutch, wobble forwards a bit and try to stop with their feet before falling over.

It's a nice idea, but it could discourage people when they find that it isn't as easy to learn as it looks to do.

Could see this putting alot of potential bikers off myself. The first couple of hours I spent on a bike were terrible. It made me think hard about why I was doing it. All that jerking about and lack of control.

Nice idea though.

Is motorcycling still so gender-biased that women are seen as the ones who are most vulnerable on a bike, that they're the ones who are scared of bikes and would not want to get off their own arses and learn for themselves?
My boyfriend is scared to even sit on my bike, and always looks at it with apprehension. But he doesn't worry about the fact that I do ride because riding competently it's all in the head not your genitals.
Bit off-topic but... mate or missus? I'd love to go out riding with my bloke but even a special one hour session wouldn't get him on two wheels.
