F650 Funduro tyre valves

I've recently got a BMW F650 1998, and haven't been able to check the tyre pressures yet - I'm used to my bikes having the car type valves on them. Instead this has thinner valves on it, but I can't see how you measure the tyre pressure - nothing seems to push in to let the air out.

Anyone know what this type of valve is called? Or what adaptor I need to be able to use a standard tyre pump on it?

That's just a dust cover with a valve-core remover built in. Unscrew it, it's a normal valve underneath.

Thats a dust cap with integral valve core removal tool....

I'm not sure whether to quickly remove this thread or say 'that's right, well done - I was just checking you knew!' Brick Wall
I was too scared to unscrew it in case the tyre just went explosively flat...

What's a valve core removal tool for? - apart from the obvious, why would you want to have a removal tool ON the valve?

Must... fight... the... desire....to....

Nah, fuck it. It's for removing the valve core. Duh!
The only reason I can think of is if you want to let the air out to change the tyre.

You can also use it to check the valve core is nipped up enough if you seem to have a slow puncture. Or.... remove the valve core, blow out any grit and refit in case that was holding the valve core slightly open.

Take it off, turn it round, put in the valve tube and turn it till the two little prongs engage in the valve core. Now you can remove or tighten it.
