Was riding along nice at 60mph on a dual carriage way for 20 mins, then my bike started to jerk and slow down. I pulled over and now it won’t start. The breakdown service came out said I would check the fuel pump first.I watched a video on this and the guy said to suck on the air pipe and if fuel comes out of the gas line then the fuel pump is working fine, which I did and fuel is coming out.. Any ideas what this could be ..I’ve just had a new carb fitted 2 months ago

I have attached a video of what it’s doing now.

Did you try it on reserve tank?

If it's not that, first thing would be to check for spark.

If it has a fuel pump, does it pump fuel to the carb when the ignition is turned on?

Is there fuel in the float bowl of the carb?

AJS A9 125cc? Has it actually got a fuel pump?

I'm told it has a "vacuum fuel cock", and if the vacuum line is split, that could be trouble. This could OFC be rubbish.

Take the fuel line off the carb and switch the pump on. If fuel comes out, fuel is getting to the carb. Then, crack the drain plug on the carb open and see if fuel comes out of there. If fuel does come out, you have fuel in the float bowl. If it still won't start after both of those come out as positive, clean your jets.

Not 100%, but I think it's a vacuum system with no pump.

As an aside, you really need to sort that cabling out. The throttle lever is going to chew through that bundle of wires if you leave it like that!

Why? There could be a clue there.
Also, visual fuel level can be deceptive. Put some more in and try again. Don't ask me how I know. Wink
