Aprilia Futura weight change/loss

Hey all,

Long time no postie.

I just bought a 2004 Aprilia Futura, she's a big old tourer and I've got some questions related to weight, distribution and schtuff for a more technical mind than mine.

First issue is that the seating position feels like it throws me forward just a bit too much to where wrist pain is a thing on a 15 minute ride. Is there any simple solution to this? Customising/modifying the seat? Would love it to feel a bit more straight back like a hornet or more commuter type motorcycle.

Second is the weight, it is a fairly heavy bike and I was just wondering how much I could get off of it without incurring any problems. I'm thinking things like removing fairings would be pretty straight forward and making it a bit more naked and unique. Are there going to be any issues removing the fairings in terms of them having a protective, or other, purpose? I know an exhaust swap saves some weight but that obviously costs moneys, so money-free ideas like removing the centre stand are very welcome!

Third is the weight distribution, the weight isn't such a large problem as much as the vertical distribution of the weight. It feels very top heavy and kind of difficult at lower speeds due to this. I wonder if a lower weight distribution might make the weight at least feel a bit easier to maneuvre. Would there be any way to check whether this is indeed the case (the weight being distributed rather north) and then a solution to perhaps lowering that distribution.

I know I am asking a lot but my father told me if you don't ask you don't get and that's how I ended up with my first bike

Buy a lighter bike?

Honestly, removing fairing from a bike leaves a lot of wiring and shit on view and it'll look like a bag of shit.

Grip with knees and use core to hold you up. No weight on your wrists at all, you shouldn't be resting on them.

There is a very simple solution!!

Sell it and buy a lighter bike that you don't find uncomfortable to ride.
