Well it's been a long wait since I put the deposit down on the GT to replace my 15' Tracer 900 but last Friday (1st) I finally got to pick it up
Have put a few hundred miles onto it now going through the running in process. Below are my initial thoughts for anybody interested:
Pro's
Improved Comfort - Seat is much better for both rider and pillion. More padding but does make the seat height higher
Screen - Reduced wind noise and works better than the 15'. Also like being able to adjust it one handed on the go as well
TFT Screen - Works really well. During the day is white background on black writing and then swaps around when it gets dark. You can change the settings to suit your preference
Heated grips - As per previous model work really well and full customization
Suspension - One of the biggest improvements on the bike. Now fully adjustable front and rear. Although, I currently have not made any changes I can already report that the bike feels more more stable compared to the 15'
Longer Swingarm - Didn't know what to expect from this. I was worried that by making it longer it would make the bike less flickable but happy to report that I feel it is an improvement. It has given me much more confidence in the twisties at least
Cruise Control - Works brilliantly. I didn't think i'd use it much but it makes boring motorway easier. Certainly a nice addition for when out on tour
Quick Shifter - My first bike with one and all I'll say is much fun is had with this Worth noting that it's for upshifts only
Con's
Pillion Foot Pegs - They have lowered them to give more room to the pillions but by doing so when riding with the wife on the back she ends up knocking the back of my feet often
However, I can easily live with that small con considering the pro's with the bike. It really is a great machine and the GT version feels far superior to the standard Tracer 900
If you are considering the Tracer 900 then in my opinion stretch your budget a bit further and go for the GT version if you can. You will not be disappointed
From 's'Laguna's? Looks decent, reckon if I decide to go on some tour, I'd grab something about that size.

That is for that, very informative. I'm hoping for a tracer GT next year and it looked to me to solve some of the niggles I had with the earlier Tracer. I too was concerned that the longer swingarm and narrower bars might ruin it's playful character so I'd be interested to hear an update when you've had it a while longer.
I will report back when I get more miles under my belt.
In my opinion it really feels like Yamaha listened to previous Tracer 900 owners when deciding to offer a premium model.
I owned my 15' Tracer 900 for nearly 3 years so I do feel I am in a good position to be able to give an accurate compassion of the two
Another thing I forgot to mention as well is they have added longer stalks to the mirrors. I think nearly everybody I spoke to who owned the previous Tracer put aftermarket extenders on so now there is no need as you get a much better view
