Lextek alarms any good?

just had my bike nicked by some fucking kids who hotwired it and snapped the steering lock.My fault as i was planning on going out again so didnt use my chain to lock it up like i should have. managed to find it with about £150 worth of damage.

looking for an alarm for a bit of extra security and the lextek kit seems to be pretty good. anybody got experience with it? or could recommend another alarm for the same price range?

My personal opinion but I have always found bike alarms to be more of a pain in the arse than any help. Of the two that I have had on my bikes I eventually ended up removing both of them, made not difference whatsoever to my insurance quotes.

Maybe it might stop the scrotes wheeling it off down the street but who pays attention to alarms nowadays.

If some evil bastards are intent on nicking your bike...they'll nick it. If you concreted the thing in the ground it'd still go. The only twats you can hope to thwart are the opportunists. Chain it to something that can't move is about the best you can do.

Sorry to read that you have had trouble. I agree with the above, nowadays alarms are treated as a pest and ignored. Get either an in-line immobiliser or fit a 2nd kill switch somewhere or just get used to having to chain it every-time you leave it.

I'd imagine the major effects would be to leave you stranded, and to get more of your wiring cut out the next time they have a go.
