Hi all. I'm now the proud owner of a naked FZR600. It's currently got the bar-end mirrors which I'm not keen on as it widens the width of the bike when filtering etc. I've noticed if you flip off the plastic seals near clutch fluid holder etc there's the threaded holes to screw in a pair of standard mirrors. My question is are they 8mm or 10mm thread and are they left or right hand thread?

One is left, one is right.
If you're going for standard mirrors, you don't need to know the size of the 8mm/10mm thread.

Measure them. The 8 mil one will be 8mm and the 10, 10mm outside thread diameter.

I don't have the old ones to measure (the current ones are bar-end ones). I'm assuming 10mm as I've seen an ad selling 10mm ones that are for Yamaha. Are all Yamahas the same for mirror thread?

Old Army trick: Screw an 8mm or a 10mm bolt in. Whatever screws in is the size.

(I wasn't even in the army either.)

I bought some el-cheapo mirrors for the XJ last year and had to drill and TAP a hole in the boss of the GPZ550 master cylinder that it has fitted.. anyway they were M10 fine x 1.25mm and I seem to recall both were right hand thread. if that helps (probably not Embarassed )

I once had a Yamaha XT350 and that was right hand thread on both sides, but I've heard that a lot of Yamahas are right hand thread on the left bar and left hand thread on the right bar to stop the headwind un-threading the mirror. I've ordered off Ebay a pair advertising that they fit all Yamahas (hmmm) and are right thread on left and right thread on right so will see if they fit and if not will get an adaptor.

You should see the threads with the NAKED eye, all my Yams had left hand and right hand threads.
