Ok, you don't need to have tax and MOT providing you are riding to or from an MOT or a pre-arranged repair. The vehicle still has to be roadworthy though. Make sure the MOT station has your registration number booked in in case you get stopped by the police en-route as they will be understandably sceptical about your excuse for not having an MOT or tax. Ok on the way back because you have either the MOT or the fail certificate to prove it.
Insurance. You must be insured regardless of the above. You need to check your own policy to see if it allows you to ride other peoples bikes on a third party basis. When you look at the small print is states that such a vehicle must be used with the owners permission (no brainer) and that the vehicle is insured on another policy. So, providing your mate does have this bike insured and your policy allows you to use other peoples vehicles, you can ride it. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
