Well Howdy,
I was looking to get a nice good waxed cotton jacket for the winter... And I found what looked like a great one ( and in all honesty too good to be true one ) on ebay...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RkSports-Black-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Textile-Vintage-Long-Waterproof-Jacket/152139599012

Was what i ordered... The too good to be true part was that its 38 quid... The design in the picture looks great, and is clearly waxed cotton.

However. What I got was not the one in that picture. But another one the same seller sells... Strangely for about 70 quid.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RKsports-Vintage-Wax-Cotton-Waterproof-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Jacket-CE-armors/152871193939 <<< is what appears to have been sent to me.

Now how have I been shafted? You say, you might also say "but you got a 70 quid jacket for 39 quid...

Well shafted in a few ways. I didnt like the design of the other jacket, it was similar but to me a poor imitation, also regardless of the description and even the tab on the jacket... Its not Waxed Cotton, its fluffy and linting out the bag and if it is waxed there is a very very tiny amount... Nothing compared to the M&S autograth waxed jacket I have. Also it has that horrid rubber logo stitched into it as well.

Other issue is Im a 44 inch chest. On the one I ordered that makes it a 3xl (for some fucking strange reason) but on this jacket 3xl is for some one much larger. I know ive put on some hideous amounts of weight this year but damn Im NOT that fat!

TBH i should have known something was up when It didnt come in the post last Tuesday or Wednesday... I ordered it last week Friday, The description says dispatch within 1 day... So even with the bank holiday, and them sending at the latest on Tuesday I should have had it Wednesday.... I then looked up tracking. They only sent it out yesterday (thursday) lying about dispatching and such should throw alarm bells all the way...

Anyway consider this a warning to you all .. Stay the fuck away from the ebay user dipti8077

Now doing some googling... I struggling to find decent wax cotton/lining biker jackets with armour. Well not ones for under 200 quid. I would happily pay up to 100 quid at the moment for a nice jacket. But I just cant find any...

Anyone know where to get one?

Seems quite simple to me...

Contact seller. You sent wrong item. Please arrange collection and refund.

So what was the point of the story then.....

Why not simply ask the question and save the shit...

A quick google brings up plenty of retailers selling what you want.

I know its all about fashion, but a cheap jacket is a cheap jacket. I'd love to see it in a crash.

Thanks, I saw a few on there... Bit pricey still but at least its under 200 :p Thanks again

Also about the original ebay posting... I really really dont know what happened there, I know it said it was waxed cotton... It was the whole reason I was picking it. Even the photo in the listing shows a wax cotton jacket.

Just... odd.

Personally I would have stopped at the name, I see it as a cast iron guarantee of dodgy selling practices and even
dodgier goods. Plus the devils own job getting your money back again once they've had it from you. This place is just an
online version of the dusky sellers you see at the NEC bike show and local sunday market flogging no name leather gear.

I always check out business details before I press buy from ebay sellers. TBH, cards on the table I don't
particularly wish to line the pockets of muslims or the chinese in any way at all if I possibly can manage it,
certainly not knowingly so. So I always check out exactly who's getting my cash before I press buy on a
business seller item. But then I don't trade in any significant capacity with another company until I've done some
homework. Run my own business the same way, keeps you from making expensive errors of judgement if the
assumption is that they are all trying it on. /cynicaloldgit

i give loads of money to china... most of my electronics come from there :p

Well that maybe true, its a good thing ebay can force a refund. I already put in the returns request on the item not as described clause...

Sorry can't remember, however I bought this one:-

Clicky

Despite what it says in the blurb, it will get that shiny waxed cotton look after a while, it's very warm especially with the full sleeved lining in!

There are plenty available for under £200.

Search for RST classic TT waxed cotton jacket.

The listing is textile, the more expensive one is waxed cotton. You bought the wrong one and Im not seeing how the seller has done anything wrong. Pay the return post and buy the correct one.

Seller should probably see this thread..

Well no, even if i had made that mistake.. the one i got still isnt the one in the listing. Its also not the correct size compared to the size chart between the two versions of jacket.

For 39 quid i might have accepted the one i got... if it fit. it doesnt. this thing is way too large.

On the Listing i brought from the size was 3XL for 44 inch chest... Thats my chest size. 3XL on the other jacket was for a 48 inch chest... Its simply too big.

Go to a shop.

Look at the jackets and try some on.

Buy one which is a good fit and is in whatever style or colour you want.

Job done.

I was considering that today... but i was hoping to avoid going to infinity... :/ its a bit out the way in norwich... but they're also on the whole more expensive than the ones weve been looking at recommended here.

But off the top of my head I dont really know of any other shop that specialises in biker gear :/

Recommended is no good if they don't fit you. Or if they cheap eBay shit that will fall apart if you ever crashed in them.

Once you've found what jacket you like and know what size fits you, there's nothing stopping you then going and buying it online rather than from Infinity. Mr. Green

Thought that's what everyone did tbh?? I only buy brand new lids and boots, rest of my kit is used. But yeah,
I'll try lids on at say Fowlers for example, take a phone pic of the lid and price tag and then I goes a bargain shopping.
Bought my Shark Speed R, Shark Spartan Carbon plus my HJC RPHA10 all in the same way tried on first then ordered
online for a saving on the local price. >£200 Lids are usually sent next day anyway so you don't have to wait much longer.
I save a LOT buying my other kit 2nd hand. Had some AMAZING bargains over the years. For instance my favourite
leather strides cost me just £5. Just got an IXON All weather armoured textile for £20, looks like it's been worn about four times.
