what you got? (or what dyou like), post your pics:

also gimme some ideas/suggestions for cruisers up to a grand (any cc) - i'll be buying one as soon as I get my direct access course over with.

I prefer older bikes (80's) to newer one's as most of them tend to be more reliable in my opinion (less stuff on them to go wrong)

Don't think they're gay; I'm sure most gay people have more taste Razz.

However I have never seen the point.
I have always aproximated the fascination with Harleys to the following:
If Skoda had got a really good marketing deparment in their 'bad' days; and had kept selling designs way out of date, yet managed to charge people over twice as much for a lower spec vehicle Smile.

Each to their own though, what ever makes you happy etc... sure plenty of people don't get me wanting to go on the same 2mile stretch of tarmac many times in the same day Smile.

It's a case of "whatever floats your boat".

I personally think they are ugly machines tbh, I also sit on one and think how the hell are you supposed to ride these things with a front wheel about 10 metres in front of you. Razz

both road bikes and cruisers have their place I think, I wouldn't say no to an R1 but I would take a smaller cc cruiser over that any day, I like the old square boxy bikes too (80's) not just cruisers:

I like cruisers! Can highly recommend the Eliminator range!

Although in an ideal world I'd have one of these as it's not too Harley, if you know what I mean.......

Love cruisers, had a small one when I was learning and that got me interested in them. If I didn't have one I might have been the type to basically brand them all "slow, boring pieces of shit" like so many folk on here do Wink Try before you slate it, is what I say. I think the tall touring bikes like bmw look boring but wouldn't slate it as I haven't tried one yet. (might all change this september though Wink)

Really want to hire a cruiser (not a fan of harleys themselves but any cruiser really) and tour america on it. Still plan to have a virago 535 sometime on the future. Style icons those things Twisted Evil

https://dodrt.dod.no/010/images/virago.jpg

Get a set of screamin' eagle type pipes on it and you're away
Cool No leather or tassels on it mind, don't think that looks good on the bike.

Not amazingly fond of the raked out customs that the americans seem to have started a love affair with though. I admire them and the people that make them but just a smidgen too far for my liking.

It's a Benelli TNT 1130.

Yes, very expensive. Laughing

I know you like cruisers and that is cool. I personally prefer naked bikes anyway, I find the sportsbikes all too samey if you get what I mean. Smile

Cruisers are the flared trousers of the biking worlds. They looked cool once but now say all the wrong things about the rider.

OK peeps what do you think when you see a Harley. What's the guy in the saddle gonna be like?

what dyou think they say about the rider?

kind of think they say all the right things about the rider myself. I prefer them to be subtle though.

i've never been a huge fan of harleys - maybe your right when it comes to harleys about them saying all the bad things about the rider? (as in more money than sense)?

but normal cruisers have a really good image in my eyes

If it's a Sportster, probly a woman......... Laughing

Funny isn't it, how people automatically think of Harleys when you say cruiser. There are so many others out there that people just write off without looking at, just cos of your stereotypical HOG man.

That's because all cruisers are based on the Harley style. But the Jap ones are better bikes.

If it's a £15000 Harley blinding every fooker with chrome everywhere I can't help thinking this is a guy with more money than sence. Probably doesn't ride it all winter. Probably in his 50's. Probably never riden until he was 40. Probably thinks everyone else thinks he looks like a rebel. Probably bullied at school. Probably wouldn't know one end of a spanner from the other

On the other hand if it's a hand built, slightly ratty looking custom cruiser riden buy someone waring hob-nail boots and non-matching, slightly lived-in looking gear, it's a different matter entirely.

He's probably what Mr chrome dome wishes he was.

Im not really into cruisers as i dont want to ride that sort of bike, certainely on u.k. roads anyway. I also have never been a big Harley fan, as these bikes are probably some of the most basic and poorly engineered bikes ever produced!

I do to a point like some of the US specialist custom bike firms machines. Have a look at a Confederate for example, they are a work of art, and very nicely styled.

The only custom bikes i do like generally are some of the Japanese factory custom's from the 80's, but only really the in line 4 powered bikes, as this is what the japanese do best, they have failed to significantly improve on the performance of ultra big V-twins by much over the Harley originals, so why dont they use big four cyl engines for their cruiser style bikes.
The V-max is one of the best examples of a performance cruiser, and it is an original design, and has a reputation for being a real best of a bike, which is how a custom bike should be!

I'd love a blast on a Triumph Rocket III just to see what it felt like and if it really does accelerate as fast as people say. Wouldn't want to own one though

Unrefined? caracter? reliable? you sir need a CX500/650 Custom, really nice bike, relyable as they get, powerfull enought to scare yourself, comfy enough to tour, shaft drive and easy to maintain... can you tell i like them?

When i had my cx500b i'd have old timers walking past ducatis and benellis and allsorts to say how nice a bike they are and how they used to have one and wish they never got rid of it... i'm haveing another when i have the money and space..

They are a bit gay. Can't really see the point at sitting at 50 all day in some sort of porn star position.

Not trying to start a flame war here...
But to me I think "Why didn't they get a car?". The reasons for riding a cruiser a massively different from my reasons for riding a bike, though I'm sure some are similar for some people.

Cruisers are mostly all about look. I'm into the riding.
If you're into the look and actually like the look, then it makes sense.
Just don't expect other people to think the same when they look at your bike Smile.

I know a few people do find them comfortable, but most of those people would find a proper tourer more comfortable in my opinion.
