This is my first ever post here Shocked

I've recently been on a bit of a mission to find the perfect Lightweight Adventure bike. Turns out the little WR250R makes for a pretty awesome touring bike.

Has anyone else ridden long distance on one of these? I know they are pretty hard to find in the UK!

Anyway, if interested, I put together a little video of the 1000 mile trip I just took on her. You can check it out here Thumbs Up

What was your rationale behind 'light weight', if keeping the speed down on a very decent surface?

Seems a bit of an odd compromise to me.

(And I am all for light weight - but I also like an engine capable of being relaxed at pace over distance if I'm doing distance; and for that something like the KTM690 does a good bit better for only 12kg heavier - yes that was what I chose I should note.)

Have you done much/any off-road riding before?

It's an interesting choice of bike, if not a bit unusual. Laughing

Got anything planned for another trip?

Iíve never ridden/used a WR250R however I have done a good few UK trips/mini tours .
Imho any well looked after 250 will be up to the job.
Personally, Iíve used a Hyosung GT250r, a Honda 250 Superdream, and a Honley RX3 (250).
All have acquitted themselves without any issues.

Iíll just leave this here Thumbs Up

Big following in the states.

For my preference, I echo the 690/701 sentiments, especially for distance.

As long as I stay off the motorway it's pretty good fun. Next trip will probably be Scotland. Maybe the North Coast 500.

Having owned 1 or 2 'adventure bikes', I love your enthusiasm. But, pepperami is right. Go do the Scotland trip and tell everyone how it 'really' was. (Btw, plan your petrol stops carefully.)
