I guess this is my bi-annual moan about drivers using mobile phones while driving! My usual journey was disturbed by two drivers, paying more attention to their conversations then what was going on around them. In the usual heavy traffic on London's roads filtering is the norm - one woman in a metro failed to control her car, whilst yacking away just as I was filtering past - causing it to swerve in my direction Shocked . I managed to avoid her & the car coming in the other direction. At the next lights she totally ignored my attempts (politely) to point out the error of her ways , preferring to continue her conversaton - unbelievable! Anyway as the lights changed I went off - continuing to filter and after a 100 metres or so saw a traffic cop queueing in the opposite direction. I stopped - hooted and he wound down his window - I told him that there was a woman coming up the road on her phone who nearly killed me and that he should nick her. Before he could say anything I was off - I've had enough of the police this week but that is another story - possibly one day on Off-Topic chat.

About a mile further along on the North Circular approaching Hanger Lane Eastbound the road widens from two lanes to three and eventually four. I was in the middle of a lane when an Astra pulls directly into my path. Fortunately I was not going fast & somehow managed to brake and steer - by the time I came to a halt I was right by his (open) window. Using a range of expletives to express my displeasure I basically told him that if he'd knocked me off he'd be looking at a criminal record - which would affect his job prospects. I was in two minds as whether to grab the phone & chuck it but in the end used a few more expletives and got over the lights just as they changed.

It seems that despite the law being changed - people continue to use their phone knowing it is unlikely they are going to be prosecuted. It really annoys me Twisted Evil

Hi

Well, given the new road safety bills mad line on mobile phones, things could get worse.

The road safety bill (that had its third reading a couple of weeks ago) makes it an offence to use a mobile phone in a car, even if you are stationery with the engine turned off:-

All the best

Haha, take a stab at how many of these 'scent only, no fox killing' hunts dont accidentally land upon a fox. High profile laws very very rarely work. Its pathetic.

I say we should just have abit of vigilante-ism. Next time do nick there phone and leave it on there roof. Would be a giggle if nothing else.

Wow....I'm yet to meet any of these kind of drivers. Think I like it this way too as I don't have any patience Confused

Nice one for telling the traffic bod though, never know if he looked for her but at least it may have brought it to his attention to nab some people using the blower on the go. Thumbs Up

so those fucking bastards better watch out because I am NOT taking prisoners.

OH yeah, how about the number of cyclists on mobiles, the law excluded them, why??

To be honest it's anyone within 6 feet of a road! The number of people you see jabbering away, crossing the road oblivious to what's going on around them - I would not be at all surprised if the road casualty figures start creeping up again - as people are becoming less aware of what's going on around them as they are distracted by their phones!

yep, that too and when you hit the horn they look at you and give you "THE FINGER" which only makes me madder.

The second time i took my girlfriend out on my bike some retard drove out in front of me while on her phone, luckly i was half expecting it and was positioned to get out of the way, if i'd been in a car we WOULD have collided, they stayed about 6 car lengths back... was close to stoping in front of them and showing them a use for a phone that was never intended...

I'd LOVE to have the powers a traffic cop would have in those situations sooooo much.

Siting allongside them in traffic and idleing at 8000rpm with fixed stare gets the message accross.
