As for a preventive measure, clean the contacts of your charging system, oxidation is what kills it. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

I used one like this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253923087442
As my ER5 is the A1 model, it doesn't have a fuel gauge so I fitted it between the tacho and the speedo. (and wired it to a 12v feed inside the clocks - live feed to the tacho if I remember rightly).
As for the wires to keep clean etc : Behind the RH side panel you'll see where the reg/rec plugs into the loom, make sure the contacts are good and clean and coated with dielectric grease. ____________________ Aprilia Classic 125, GS500E, ER5-A1, ER5-C4, ER6 & an XJ6 project frame... |
