What a great day. I think me, Shellshock and Distortion have had the best of the weather in the country today!
we have just come back from a 280 mile round trip to Portmadog in NE Wales.

The roads in wales (especially around Bala) are excellent. Very Good quality surfaces, and very twisty. It was good to see so many bikers out in the lovely weather too!!

Heres some pics

We were promised nice weather today, but it was as dull as ever in Beverley. Thought I'd found a bike to buy yesterday night, but today it turns out it was already sold so I contented myself helping me dad mess around with the back end of his Aprillia Falco. I am considerably envious of your fine weather and bike ownage!

LOL glad you had a good time, we didn't get quite as far down as Bala as the weather was a bit murkier in North Wales!

We did manage a 240-mile trip though, starting off heading off towards Ruthin then taking some of the real windy single-track roads through a forest whose name escapes me. Couple of hairy moments there, as some of the roads were very steep, and there was quite a lot of mud & gravel about, but managed to stay upright despite a couple of fairly impressive back-end slides - bet I couldn't have done those if I'd been trying to! Himself managed to actually come off the road and get a bit stuck in the verge at one point ( Razz that'll teach you to take me on "difficult" roads on our first major ride of the year!) but some judicious shoving soon had us on our way again.

Managed a stop at the Ponderosa at Llangollen once I actually found the road it was on - conversation had gone:
- You go in front says he.
- I don't know the way says I
- Straight up the road says he
- OK says I

....until I noticed he wasn't behind me any more, and had failed to mention the right-hand turn we needed to do Twisted Evil so that was me u-turning and haring back to try and find him!

Once we were on the way back and I knew the way I let him go off and play on the twisties whilst I followed behind at a slightly more sedate pace.

Only one BMW tried to overtake on a bend and kill me this time out, was quite funny watching the other half (who was a fair way in front but had seen how close he came in his mirrors) go tearing after him yelling "DICKHEAD" at the top of his voice.

Nice to see so many other bikes out & about enjoying the weather, and boy isn't the M56 a boring motorway!

Iam now relaxing at home and starting to feel just how many miles we actualy covered today ..... nurse, the liniment please....ouch.... Laughing

Well what a day we were promised. Woke up this morning in hope of seeing the sun in all its glory, only to be greeted by the gloomy clouds that we are so used to here in Manchester. Anyway that wasn't going to stop me as I'd already planned to go out.

The journey: Me and a mate set off from mine and headed towards the cat and fiddle, stopped there for a hot chocolate (it was quite cold!) and a general unwind. Continued on from there towards buxton, then matlock. Had some lunch in Matlock then headed for the final leg of the journey, Snake pass(which we had to go through sheffield to get to!). Great Roads shame about the weather will definitely be doing that again.

One rather tired James.

On Saturday I went for a 200mile round trip to Mablethorpe(near Skegness on the East coast). The weather was okay, though very misty on the coast so that I didn't actually see the sea at all...

There were loads of bikes on the Lincolnshire roads, and I rode with a couple including one 15mile stint behind one guy who was riding what I think may have been an R1. Some really nice roads as well, though the speed cameras were a bit tiresome(how can they justify putting them on the "accident hotspot" that is the Fosse Way??).

This was my first real ride on my Bros, so quite an experience. This one rideout was a longer distance than it had covered in the last year and a half of being owned by the guy I bought it off. Pretty pleased nothing broke on it Shocked

Sun? What's that? Confused Despite vigorous warnings of a glorious sunny weekend to start off my Easter holiday, it stayed thoroughly grey and overcast the entire time. This morning it was drizzling and foggy. Neutral

To amuse myself I took the rear end of my bike to pieces, rewired the brake light cluster, cleaned the whole lot up whilst watching the F1 GP (mostly with steel wool and a large steel brush), and reassembled it with copious quantities of axle grease as it was getting dark. (Hunting for the axle nut on the tarmac in the dark was fun Laughing ) . Great weekend. Rolling Eyes Still, at least it's fixed.

Aye I do, plus I also happen to be a little feathery thing that makes a strange 'cluck cluck' noise, need to get that sorted Rolling Eyes

Glad you all had a good day, despite the weather not being quite as grand as it could have been, I love hearing all the biking stories.

Bala was great, I could have just sat and snapped bikers all day whilst sitting and chilling outside the pub. Fair few bikers out that weren't nodding Thumbs Down

First time as a pillion going very fast, 110 for a very ickle short time ! Blasting down the A55 was NOT fun, on the ZXR you have to bob right down, this makes for backache, headache and arseache, but around town and the twisties, its pure joy.

If there are lots of bikers around, I try to nod or make some sort of display of acknowledgement but it's a pain in the arse doing it to every biker you see. So chances are they aren't being grumpy bastards, they're just concentrating on what they're doing Thumbs Up

We will be going through matlock yep.

its a kind of full-circle around the midlands..going clockwise if you look at a map. Or we might do it anti clockwise if we do it over 2 days, so that we can hit matlock on a sunday Cool
