for those drivers that, when overtaking a motorbike, wont move all the way to their lane, and straddle the line passing as close as they possibly can

the lanes drawn down for fun are they?

its happening more and more it seems, today was some TVR thing, some mid lifer twat, driving like an idiot anyway, saw him in my mirrors, pulled into the left hand lane waiting for the sliproad onto the m25, he pulled in behind me, then decided to overtake me just to move into the space in front.... pointless move as it was

its not just that its dangerous, i just find it very rude, like they consider i shouldnt be on the road, its the feeling of being on a 50cc being forced into the gutter all over again

after we got onto the m25 i couldnt catch him to vent my disgust in his window, makes it worse Thumbs Down

much hate ...

It seems as soon as the weather picks up the cagers decide that they don't need to concetrate as much as they did in the wet. Was going down a logn straight today, slowly and some old man and his wife overtook in me in a mk2 Fiesta, literally CM's away from me, I felt like kicking the door in. I mean for christ sake there was no traffic coming the other way! Not that it would have been an excuse anyway! Can't wait to ditch this 50cc. Thumbs Down

days like that when you could do with the r1 or a huyabusa really get on there nerves by going slow then going next to them on the inside lane and hammer it about 120+ to wind them up.

don't worry i use to get that every now n again cause im on a 125 scooter so i do it back when its clear cause when there doing 50 they dont expect a scooter to come flying past @ 70

Was just talking about this to somebody last night. The smallest thing on the road and they still can't give me any room. I had someone do it to me yesterday just to turn left 2 seconds up the road. I think people with open top sports cars should be more careful Twisted Evil

The opposite of this happened to me yesterday. I was riding with Yams and went to overtake a car in front of me on a straight, average width bit of road. Indicated, quick lifesaver etc, all perfectly sensible but I was not prepared for the guy drifting right across to the middle of the road as I overtook him (no junctions even close to where we were either Confused) and leaving me my bike's width give or take a few inches to get past. WAKE UP! Shocked

Open top sports cars offer a rare and unpleasant opportunity: Spit on the bastards Twisted Evil . My Mate Phil was ragging the nuts off his SP-6 50 the other day, it does 50 going slightly downhill Laughing and some nutter went past him by literally an inch, the wing mirror hit him on the elbow. It was an old woman in a pop fiesta towing a trailer, not enough power to overtake and Phil couldn't slow as the trailer was wider than the car and had blocked the way back off. Phil resolved this by battering on the window with his fist until she dropped back. He then slowed and allowed her to pass. She promptly crashed into a car at the next junction. Stupid Bitch probably couldn't see a damn thing. We have a problem with this on the Island Rolling Eyes as it seems to be treated as the countries retirement home. You know the problems' bad when your held up on a 30 MPH scooter in a 50 limit in rush hour.

Yea I hate that, it's allways people with open top sports cars, we had one today, some stupid cow in a BMW z3 overtook me round a corner, cut me up when she saw an on-coming bus, and leaving me jamming on my brakes in a gutter, I'm lucky there were no wet leaves in that gutter or something, well more like she's lucky.

But WHY? We were'nt going slow, infact we were speeding, probably about 45 in a 35, and round a corner leading to a straight? WAIT YOU STUPID BITCH, wish i'd thought of the spitting though Smile

Presence can help. It's not infallible, but with practice it works.

I get different reactions. If I'm on the VS, no-one comes near. In fact people bounce of kerbs getting out of the way. On the Buell I have to work harder to maintain a precence.

Hard to explain, but if you own your lane - people will often respect that. It's not an arrogance, more a self-assuredness.

Is this the beer talking or what? Someone help me out here. Mr. Green

agree with BFG that some defensive riding can help but there is always some twat who is sat on your arse who is itching to get past you, if in town let them pass then filter past them at some light with a nice smile Wink

Every time this has happened to me that I've noticed, without fail, it has been either a 4x4 Chelsea tractor, a BMW, or an Audi.

BMW M3s are the absolute pits. One in particular went so close I could feel the wind from their wing mirror. I was riding about a foot to the left of the divider line, and it was a long downhill straight just after a left hander. There was no traffic in sight, just Muggins in his shiney sickly yellow car can't be bothered to move even a foot further into the opposite lane.

Sometimes I used move over to encourage them to overtake to try and stop them being right up my arse tailgating. Then they only move out only as far as they need to avoid hitting me... I gave up on the idea of moving over to allow anything to overtake. Now I tend to treat it like a track. If they want to get past, then it's their problem. If I'm going at a flatout 60mph, then if they're all queuing up behind me to try and overtake, they're speeding and I don't feel obliged to take any notice of them whatsoever.

Sounds about right.

Using all the road, as is your right when keeping up with traffic - sounds good. Nice one. Smile

A queue? That sounds too far the other direction.

There's a fine line between having a queue behind you and being in the way. IMHO there is a big difference in the body language in these situations - ranging from "I can do 150 if I want but I choose not to", and, "I can get up to 75 if I try, but there's a headwind, and I don't want to lose face". Only the best bluffer can pull this off. Wink

One thing thats p*sses me of is when you get twats travelling in the opposite direction that think its okay to overtake someone in front of them because theres a bike coming the other way and we dont need much room or they think the bike will just move over and make room, really rattles me, had it twice this week Mad a nice hand jester Twisted Evil is not enough for these twats

Or the other great one is the twats that dont think its right for bikes to filter to the front of traffic lights and try and get of the line quicker, you can see something twig in there tiny little brains, had one guy a week or so ago edge the car forward on the red light until he was practically in the middle of the crossing, no joke went right over the normal white line, past the cycle line and sat in the middle of the crossing with traffic comming the other way still on green, to*ser

I was out this morning with my mate and some bitch pulled out on me in a 4x4, she could hardly see over the steering wheel and was clearly not with it, sout i come to some traffic light and knock on her window, she didnt even realise she had pulled out on me even though i beeped my horn. anyway i say to her, why the fuck are you driving that thing you clearly cant handle it and its not like you do off roading is it, you hardly need that thing to get to work and back do you? you stupid bitch!!!!

So she pulled out on you because she drives a 4x4?

That's bollocks.

She pulled out on you because she was un-aware, didn't look, take note.. like a lot of car drivers. The fact she drives a 4x4 doesn't mean jack, she would have pulled out on you even if she was driving a mini... I agree though that some women/men drive them when they can barely see over the steering wheel Laughing but if people want a 4x4 they can have a 4x4, nothing wrong with them other than possibly the person driving.

Why should a biker be allowed a big vtwin, firestorm, sp1 etc - they just gas guzzlers right??! Rolling Eyes

Just my Penny Coin Penny Coin in that it's the driver, not what they are driving. She maybe could barely see over the steering wheel, but thats the DRIVERS fault not the car.. she could prob raise the seat or something or sit on one of those kiddies booster seats Laughing

but why have a 4x4 apart from to look good, not that i think she deos, and i think she could probly handle a fiesta or something a lot better. and she obviusly thinks shes got too much money to mess about with the likes of me on my cg. sorry but theres just no need to owna 4x4, they are dangerous and statistics show that you are twice as likey to be killed or seriusly injured if the veicle that hits you is a 4x4 oinstead of a car, at least there is some reason for someone to drive a van lorry ect, theres just no need for this stupid bitch to be driving a veicle that she cant handle.

The fact that they drive a 4x4 shows that they are ignorant. Unless they are going offroad, why drive a 4x4? there is nothing good about them on the road. (I own a 4x4. I use it off-road only as that is what its for.)

I think you should have to apply for a license for a 4x4. not a driving license just a license to own it. ie if your a farmer.

people driving 4x4s on the road make me sick Sick

Why own an R1 when you can't legally do 180mph

Why own an enduro bike if you never go off road

Why own a sports car with two seats if it's not practical

Why own a CG if you can own a RS125

Why ride a bike when you can drive a car

why own a 4x4 if you don't go off road.

Why do anything, because people want to.. I think the 4x4 argument is pathetic and with no real reason to it.. yes you're twice as likely to die if you get hit by a 4x4 but you're 10 times as likely to die if you get hit by a bus, lets ban buses!!!

There is often no NEED for a 4x4 but there is often no NEED for many sports bikes, cars etc... it's about what people want and theres nowt wrong with 4x4's other than SOME of the drivers (but that sticks no matter what car)

sorry but there is a use for bus's, and why own an R1? because its not hurting anybody and deosnt use way more than your fair share of natural resources for absolubly no reason. so why not?? but a 4x4 is just ridiculas on the road. there is no point but to pose and show off the fact that youve got loads of money, while at the same time endangering other people and killing the world by usein so much fuel( by the way about 4 or 5 times more than any sprts bike).

I give up ... Brick Wall

IMO if people want 4x4's then let them have 4x4's, and how do you KNOW they never use them off road? OKAY 99.9% probably don't .. but some do! Laughing I still don't see your argument as valid, only as a biased view that all 4x4s are dangerous with very little to back that claim up.

Often a big 4x4 is very practical, seats quite a few and a lot of mums like them to carry their kids about as in an accident they are generally safer cars to be in (okay maybe not to get hit by!!) but there are less 4x4's on the road than there are buses so I don't see the problem.

p.s. buses are crap, waste fuel, often empty, always late.

I say build a monorail Thumbs Up Laughing

Vote YES to monorail.. monorail.. MONORAILLLL (simpsons joke, you'll either get it or you wont Laughing)

p.s. you say they use a lot of petrol, ok they have low MPG, but so do some sports cars, like scoobies getting 18mpg or so, some american cars getting silly low mpg like 5 mpg Laughing how do they have the right to be allowed on the roads when you think 4x4s dont?
