All I've heard since yesterday from friends is stories about this friend coming off and that friend nearly coming off!!!!
I'm not an experienced rider, but many people on here are and can surely share some tips for the less experienced amongst us!
It's the first weekend of good weather and there's been shitloads of accidents and near misses so far!
Just take care out there folks!

One tip for improving:
Get someone else to ride with and comment on each others riding styles.
Do the same piece of tarmac in both directions and feel the difference.

Always expect a patch of water to be on every corner. Or be prepared anyway.
Don't push it if you think your tyres may be either nearly bald/not correct tyre pressure. |

if you hear a rattel or it start to feel odd , stop ffs and have a gander at your vital parts, ie brakes are tight wheel bolts ect
just becuase i can pass you going around a corner/round abouts dont try and follow me
Safer rider are confident ones, like g says find the limits of your bike and then you will only crash if your bike cant get out of the situation not becuase you havent got the skills to ride out of the situtaion. (though avoiding situtations is easyer :p)
and lastly
IF YOUR GOING TO BE A T**T DO IT SOMEWHERE SAFE ____________________ F'it DO WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!! Even if it screws over everyone else :p

Smoto I noticed you said confident riders are the safer ones, I always thought this is the other way round cause I tend to mix confidence with cockyness, especially once they are too confident. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I am really really reading these threads because I want to find out how random these events are or were these people pushing their luck on the busy roads.
Would you all say that most, if not all bike accidents are at speed.
I am confident on the road, I am always looking around rather than relying on mirrors, I am riding now thinking “When is it going to happen?” ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

That's how they lived to be 60 |

Yeah I totally agree Map, i don’t know about you but with my riding style I feel really confident on the road.
I do push it sometimes but I feel like it is within my limits and usually take a good look at the road ahead, I don’t make stupid over takes as I put my bike before my instincts.
Does this mean I should look out more?
I am hearing of people coping it on the roads and weather I know them or not it does make me think “How were they riding?”
If they don’t ride like me and had a more ‘Excessive’ approach to riding, I will feel a lot better. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

All I can say is that I have a lot to learn. Will also be taking a CBT in August on a 125 just to get the feel for a more powerful bike, even though I had already done a CBT on a 50. How sensible is that ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

Well that's 3 this weekend by my reckoning.
Couple of things everyone should consider.
Track tuition to learn how to trust your bike. It will normally do much more than you think it will i.e. corner faster, lean further, brake harder etc.
And if you really must throttle the bastid then think about this. On a track there's no manhole covers, everyone is going the same way and it's usually built to allow you to make a mistake without killing yourself.
Advanced rider course to teach you to think for every other numb fooker on the road. Unfortunately that's what you have to do to survive to a ripe old age as a biker.
Then if your smart enough to appreciate the difference between the two you might just make it through the summer |
