Im currently trying to get rid of the black number plate holder on the back of my zxr400 to put on a new stainless steel bracket, small indicators and small number plate but when i stripped it a bit last night to have a good look, the black plastic runs right up the back towards the back of the seat in one massive lump, im thinking if i remove this everything is going to be exposed to rain water etc.
i thought about sawing it as far back as i need, but come on! thats gonna look tacky and surely cant be the answer!

has anyone done this to there zxr400?
if so any tips? or how did you do it?

Praying

Leave the seat plastics on, and with a marker pen draw the outline on the black rubber bit to the same shape as the seat unit. (i.e. so the line is flush with the seat unit)

Cut along that line so all the plastic rubber mudguard shit is removed and then file it flush with the seat plastics, if you file it smoothly it should look fine!

Then you need to attach the RS end bracket thing and you've got yourself a cut down rear plastic bit that sits flush with the tail piece Very Happy

There should be a little clear window in the bottom of the rear light.

I assume the rear light is still standard?

Drill holes in it then like Jordan did because, yes it is illegal. 2 or 3 holes should let enough clear light down on to it.

MOT would pick up on that too. Thumbs Up (Well should do Laughing )
