I think they have certainly plaid down the numbers involved. There was a homemade video on FB that showed huge numbers gathering before the weekends demo.
You have to agree, when the French people get on one, they don't half carry it through. (as Marie Antoinette and her husband found out ) ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

The Beeb can only keep a serious topic as top news for so long before our collective attention span ends we want to know what Celebs are up to instead.
It is huge. It started as a protest against fuel prices and has escalated into a general rant against the Government, Beyoncé singing at an Indian wedding and the price of cheese.... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Meanwhile, protests continue:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-france-protests/thousands-march-as-frances-yellow-vest-protests-rumble-on-idUSKCN1QC0NP
I know that France has the highest tax burden and public expenditure of Europe. But sometimes I think that the situation has nothing to do with Macron and his politics. It’s largely a cultural phenomenon that’s a particularly French societal mode of periodic collective “letting off steam”. But if the previous protests were more of a festival nature, the current situation seems much more serious, and it scares me personally. My husband's relatives live East of Marseille, and we were even going to buy property in France.. But now I'm even afraid to go there by car. We've seen what protesters do with cars, we heard they use pepper spray .
The times are changing. Europe is no longer as safe as it used to be. |

Need to look at more than the size of the crowd.
The headline says it all. France protests 'an economic catastrophe'.
BBC seem to have a hard and fast rule that they aren't ever allowed to publish anything that makes protesting look like a good thing.
I actually wonder if there's anything written in the book of press standards, or whatever their guidelines are called. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some kind of limit set which states media organisations are forbidden from directly inciting mass civil conflict.
Notice how most rage stories are about bad individuals or abstract social sections who can't be directly fought against, and how riots and mass protests are always shown in a bad light, or simply aren't shown at all. |

Macron got the left wing vote in France. He's supposed to hold socialist Liberal views.
It was between Le Pen and Macron, which candidate you you reckon represented the right wing?
He may call himself centrist, but he's basically the Blair of France, which even if not left wing enough for the likes of you, was as left as it got in the final run in. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Unless it fits their anti Brexit, anti right wing agenda..
I mean come on, do you get BBC news in China? Oh no you don't do you? Let me enlighten you as yo how it is lately. Every single reporter broadcasting from outside parliament now, is filmed in front of a group of anti Brexit protesters, even if the subject is nothing to do with the EU.
There are plenty of Pro Brexit protesters too, but Al Beeb never shows them as a backdrop for their reporter for some odd reason. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

They always report on counter protests 'winning', and recently you had the kids climate change protests. |
Protests about Brexit are stale now, whichever side you think is right. The kid's climate change protest was new so newsworthy. It also made protesting look like a good thing. ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Correct, he's of the Blairite variety.
Liberalism doesn't mean left wing, by the way. Liberalism is pretty much cloak-and-dagger capitalism. Its primary demand is freedom, freedom of life, society, business, trade, whatever.
A 'liberal socialist' doesn't even make sense, it sounds like a label used by those who believe in laissez faire governance founded on the principle of everyone being voluntarily nice to each other. |

Liberalism is about as left wing as you can get when it comes to "Refugees Welcome" though and I'd say that "Liberal socialism" is a very good descriptor for the modern Labour party.
Quote: | Liberal socialism is a socialist political philosophy that incorporates liberal principles.[1] Liberal socialism does not have the goal of completely abolishing capitalism and replacing it with socialism,[2] but it instead supports a mixed economy that includes both private property and social ownership in capital goods.[3][4] Although liberal socialism unequivocally favors a market-based economy, it identifies legalistic and artificial monopolies to be the fault of capitalism[5] and opposes an entirely unregulated economy.[6] It considers both liberty and equality to be compatible and mutually dependent on each other |

I think the problem lies with how the traditional left and right have changed and shifted so much, that they've almost reversed now. Far left is about as close as you can get now to modern day Nazism, which many still class as right wing. The far left are almost fascist in their view that the minority rule will force their will on the democratic majority.
The Tories, who are seemingly right wing, have made so many tax breaks for the poorer in society that many pay no income tax at all now. They've also taxed the richer harder especially on dividend tax, which now the allowances are the bet part of sod all, is probably why the treasury ran such a sodding large surplus in January.
Labour seem to be moving a lot further hard left with the rise of Momentum and the control of the unions. It's leaving a large void of people who feel left out. The type who voted to leave the EU and are finding the top political parties from across the board are ignoring them and stitching them up.
I think there's a huge need for a right wing party, if one can setup without having it's reputation tarnished by the left. We all know what will happen. The left wing media will run smear campaign after smear campaign to try to discredit and right of centre party as soon as it forms. They're already at it with Farage's Brexit Party, which has now had to move it's registered office after the business there was targeted by militant yogurt weavers. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.
