1. A682 Long Preston to Gisburn, Saturday afternoon. Red T reg Blackbird, 2 up, sat in a line of traffic with his thumb up his arse missed 2 perfectly good chances to overtake. On the 3rd I gave up waiting, overtook him and a couple of cars quite safely and pulled back in before the start of the double white lines. He then comes past overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic desperately leaning to the left to avoid a head on. Obviously couldn't deal with being overtaken by a BMW. Absolute idiot.

2. Nearer home, we came across a line of stationary vehicles because the road was blocked by a biker who had run wide on a left hander and hit on oncoming 4x4. Luckily he didn't appear injured.

3. Sunday morning heading up Wharfedale towards Kettlewell in the car with my parents. Got passed by a VFR800 who was last in a group of 3, playing catch up. He went past the car in front of us on the wrong side of the road around a blind left bend. Suicidal.

We have a bad enough image as it is without idiots like these making things worse. There's no wonder we get targetted by the Police, and complained about by the public. Please - have a bit of pride in the way you ride and make it safe. It looks better and must surely make your riding more enjoyable. I can't see that these guys doing the white knuckle "russian roulette" riding can enjoy it.

Rant over...

Tis an amusing adrenalin rush on occasion. But i agree on principle. Was out on a ride out with a couple of guys - one off this forum - on saturday. Acer is a legend and i couldnt fault his riding to any degree, but the other guy (who i'll hasten to add i got on with amazingly well as a person as he was diamond) did seem to just randomly go from conservative to suicidal . Got a little odd. Like we do about 80 down a nsl and hes a fair bit behind but doesnt catch us up so we cant roar off as we are waiting for him (he was on an 05' gixxer so wouldnt have been hard), and then at the next point he'd roared inbetween us. I kept back a hell of a lot, but he nearly 'merged' into an sv650 on one occasion as well purely by not lifesaving.

I mean as i say, a lovely generous guy and off a bike i have no problems, but on it, got a little perturbing every now and then.

Going too hot into and not countersteering enough through a left hander got me a proper adrenaline rush when I saw the oncoming truck.. Cue the thinking I really shouldn't do that and the obligatory lesson in luck, going correctly through the same corner a few days later and finding an oncoming 4x4 on the apex.

Other people may look at your overtakes and think 'idiot'. It may be that the people were actually in good control and had calculated it will.

It's all about where you draw the line.

Devils advocate bit over, it does annoy me that some people don't quite realise the risks they are taking.
I'm betting they do find it fun though.

You do get a certain kick out of "i;m going to get scrubbed" then making it by the skin of your teeth.

It was a red 'bird. And I don't think he had calculated it well judging by the way he was leaning to the left and tucking his elbows in to get through! God knows what the pillion thought of it.

I was travelling home up the M60 eastbound on Sunday evening when a bloke in full camo gear on a trailie roars up behind me at about 80. I pull over and he goes past me where he encounters a Yellow BMW M3 and another vehicle side by side in middle and fast lane. Said Trailie then teeters feet away from M3's bumper before squeezing his way through what i would consider a marginal gap. Now at 80, on the white line on a naked bike with the wind battering you i would say was dodgy. He was weaving in and around cars and generally adding to the bad name

I know some riders get a bit silly when the sun is out but similarly, like clockwork when the sun comes out also the biking elitism comes out.

Sure, nobody rides as good as you or has your personal taste in judgement. Waste of energy complaining about it though.
