Introduction
Having gotten sick and tired of others around me learning to drive and passing, I decided I needed some wheels. In the UK, the only option open to a 16 year old, with a birthday falling at the end of August is a <50cc vehicle. By this, I interpretated it to mean Italy's finest in 2 stroke, liquid cooled, fuel injected 2 wheeled transportation.

My scooter was once redhttps://www.bikepics.com/members/jaguar65/

History
Since that fateful February night, my scoot received new pillion and rider seat covers, more paint, some stickers, blacked indicator lenses, a digital speedometer (not mounted in pics), a side stand, aluminium footplates, Yamaha FZR 100 switch gears, a custom built single piece underseat, carbon fibre effect F1 style mirrors (not mounted), removed rear mudguard, paint stripped wheels (semi polished), read indicators mounted inside tailight tubes, chromed taillight tubes, Hebo adjustable delta clutch, malossi air filter, relocated air filter inside underseat storage then relocated it back again, aluminium licence plate holder, carbon fibre look downhill bars, new grips, IGM raising kit, blue anodised screw kit etc etc....
The Leo Vince S-pipe which was bought with the scoot seems to exist in a permanant state of rustiness, the chroming of this pipe would cost around £45 I believe, hard to justify really having spent so much already.
The scooter has been in my possession for more than a year and my insurance due to expire on April 22nd, I think it is time to send it one. I have had a great time with it when I have actually had her out on the road and I will never forget that first bike feeling it gave me, riding it up and down the road at about 10pm on an icy February night! I could use some free cash about now and might be going for a geared bike come the summer. Either way, I feel I have outgrown her, though I suppose I could teach myself to wheelie or something, but given that I am now of correct age, something like a zxr 400 to break my neck on seems like a better plan!

As for speed and acceleration, anyone who has wanted to race has not one on a scooter. A Yamaha Jog 50 passed me with a scally mounted to boot. Perhaps his almost Valentino Rossi posture or his MX helmet slowed him down, but he accelerated past me as I was cruising at around 40mph. While I do not condone dangerous driving, every nerve in my body wanted to race him. I twisted back and the scoot lurched forward, the massive torque from the engine nearly throwing me off, honestly! Anyways, above about 30mph, the scoot loses that fantastic acceleration it has at the lights but I caught up with our friend and past him, after putting some space between us, I then decided to slow back down, having shown both him and myself that mine was the faster scoot (ah, manhood proven!). As he caught up again a few moments later, we proceeded to discuss air filters at around 40mph over the din of our engines and the wind around us, quite reckless in hindsight.
So, I am planning on taking my bike test soon, having passed my car test. I love the feeling of two wheels but can't really justify it presently, the weather and all. The scoot has hidden away from September until about a week or two ago. Sorry to all you rough weather riders, I am a softy! Still, the last few days of school that I road in on it were fantastic. The weather was warm, the roads dry and the traffic backed up for two miles. Thank you very much, lane splitting on a two smoke, nothing like it!
I will be sad to see her go, I don't think there's much that could match this one's agility in traffic. Honestly though, I think its time I passed her on to a scally, a true scally and not a half assed attempt at a scally like myself. The future owner of this scoot must talk funny, think that they are the greatest sport bike rider the roads have ever seen and think that by adding an airfilter their scoot will out accelerate an Evo VIII.
Unfortunately friends, I was this person. I added a K&N style airfilter (that fell off and resulted in a long walk home) I tried to get my knee to touch the ground on every roundabout from Hale to Chorlton. I tried to race a Golf GTi but alas friends, a hard lesson was to be learned. As scooters go this is a mean mamma, but on the roads I'm not happy riding it unless all the traffic around me has stopped, in which case I hammer along between two lanes of 6.4 liter Ford Explorers doing 150 miles to the gallon! I have matured and while I do not regret a moment of ownership of my scoot, I think a time comes when you have to move on from your past and get a bike that other bikers will wave to you when you ride.......

Included in this sale
The scooter with all the cool parts aforementioned (Carbon fibre handlebars and riser, new Hebo clutch put in about 40 miles ago, indicators moved into tailight housing, Yamaha FZR 100 switchgears, new lock set, sidestand fitted, centerstand removed, Leo Vince S pipe, digital speedo, Malossi Airfilter, optional Xenon look headlamp bulbs, new rear hydraulic brake fitted about 10 miles ago, both brakes tight as a...well...tight as you like! Furthermore, aluminium footplates, IGM riser kit on the rear shock.

Two large boxes worth of spares and parts for the Aprilia SR scooter including hydraulic brakes, numerous plastics, the entire handlebar cover, clocks, speedo cable, switch gears etc, oil tank, rubber foot plates etc etc - enough to sell separately on ebay for a tidy profit or cover yourself should anything happen to any of the parts on this bike.

MOT until May 25th 2005

Tax (all of £15) until May 25th 2005

A damn good Oxford bike lock, not let me down yet

Should we come to a position where we must haggle, I also have a Spidi jacket and a Richas jacket I could throw in, an old ripped size 62 AGV lid and a nice new HJC size 62 lid I bought to match the paint scheme on this ride. Furthermore I have a nice pair of Nitro kevlar protective riding gloves with 3M and thinsulate this and thats - so their labels claim!

L-plate struck to front fender and licence plate mount - consider them yours.

Since the pictures were taken, the bike has been given a Bell Cycle Computer (Digital Speedo) to which I will even give you a new battery for if you don't leave me and my 13 children bankrupt!

As 50's go, this is certainly one of the most reliable Italian bikes you can buy. Mechanically they are so simple there isn't much to go wrong with them, even though this particular "simple" bike is fuel injected and liquid cooled (if it was only a 4 stroke that could well be the same description used on a KTM!) Brakes are sweet, accelerates really nicely up to 30mph and slowly up to 55mph (on flat) with me a 14 stone rider grinning away. While I have only ever ridden two other bikes, handling is pretty cool. This is a great bike for rush hour traffic! The raising kit gives a nicer seating position if you are always trying to get that knee to the tarmac (the sidestand also helps as it doesn't scrape in hard leans) though I'm not really all that close just yet! With regard to the raising kit though, I am 6'3' and the kit makes the seat high enough to mean that I am on my tiptoes when both feet are on the road. Taking this off (5 minute job) should make the bike more rideable for a smaller person.

Bad bits
Trying to be honest as I can - seems wrong to put down what I have just been praising so much, but I guess you know I am telling the truth this way.
The previous owner rear ended a Mercedes Benz, not that anything legal has been carried by me and will be handed onto you by myself, but the front fairing was a bit rough looking when it arrived. Consequently two of the lugs at the top on the nearside are no longer there and while the front fairing is sturdy, it doesn't sit perfectly flush.
As a result, the black panel you see just below the handlebars that sits atop the front fairing and leg sheild has been mounted with epoxy and some of this can be seen when the scooter is viewed from the rear, again on the nearside.
The paintwork is not the best and while I prefer only to ride in the dry, there has been the occasional time or two when the British weather has done its worst!
A rear taillight recently became disconnected, I believe the previous owner tried his hand at fixing it and made a bit of a pigs ear of it - the connection is quite temperamental. I have checked the bulb and it is ok but I was in the process of constructing an LED array for the rear lights on the scoot when I decided I should sell her rather than spend more money one pointless jobs like LED arrays.
The carbon fibre handlebars that look so great eliminate the use of the steering lock (hence the heavy bike chain has been included)
The seat is a bit loose (wobbles when you open it up to store you're helmet/access sandwiches) but this would only take a screw or two (included in the sale of course!) to put right.
There are two circular disks (about 8cms in diameter) are cut out of the under seat storage. The first one is on the side - no real problem aside from looking a bit ugly - was cut when I locked my keys in their by mistake - DOH!
The second was used to re-route the cool air intake to the under seat compartment, which made the first whole necessary for that ole' cool air I guess! If I can find these disks around my garage, I will epoxy them back into place for the buyer - I am feeling generous.
Finally my dad smashed one of the fancy smoked indicator lenses you see in the pictures, so for the past week I have been cruising without lenses, doesn't look bad at all.
Throttle cable snapped last night! ARGH! Please specify if you would like me to buy and fit before we agree on a price.

Sale Information
The scooter is being sold from my home, in Sale, South Manchester. I am less than 10 minutes away (in the direction of Altrincham) from Junction 7 (A56 exit) on the M60. Visits to look at the scooter are more than welcome (though if you are unsure, please come BEFORE you win the auction, kick the tires and tell me its not for you - I'm a 2nd Dan Black Belt at 37 martial arts, you might regret it!)
For any further questions, email is fine I check my account regularly but please don't hesitate to contact me on 07729860271 or 0161 973 6818 and ask for John.
For those of you who wish to make a HPI check on the bike, I would be happy to supply the registration number. Aside from that I can also supply you with a copy of the MOT certificate and the frame number.

Forgot that I have a pair of carbon fiber look F1 style mirrors included in this sale - I preferred not to use them but they will be included in the sale!

There's now an ad on

-bikechatforums
-adtrader
-bike-exchange
-freeads
-loot.com
-preloved

and I have emailed a whole pile of those who are looking for scooters.
Think I'll start an auction tomorrow evening and see how things go from there. Any further suggestions?
Thanks
John

Cheers dude - I think I will resist putting it on ebay in that case, I have had one reply through freeads, hoping he doesn't want to haggle the life out of me!

I found freeads pretty useless to be honest, I got emails from people 200 miles away asking me to ring them (fook off, if they want it they can ring me) and by people who havent asked mummy and daddy if they can buy a scooter yet.

Expect to be pushed around and dont refuse a sale just because some guy might ring back.

(im sure you now all this)

First sale actually, but my mother would be very upset if she hadn't raised a haggler of a son! I'll take into account what you said - imagine there's no end to it...
I've had one reply through freeads and followed it up but correspondance (while actually occuring) is minimal at this time Evil or Very Mad
You think I should stay away from ebay and wait for people to contact me?

Put the bike on ebay this evening at 9:45pm and already I have had 3 replies! Yikes! 1 potential scammer but he offered to pay cash so I don't see how he could cheat me there.

Had offers via email and phone of £450, two of £550, one of £650 and now two at £700. There's still another six days remaining so I want to hold out for at least £800.
How can I avoid a scammer winning the auction? Those who phoned seemed pretty genuine and although some of the emaillers seemed like scammers, they were making cash offers so I don't see how they could cheat me there.
I don't plan on giving the scooter to those who pay by cheque until it clears. I think I may well have listed those as refused on my auction.
Taking cash, bank transfer and paypal
