Fairing vs Semi Naked question.

Hello.
Due to the new ULEZ zone I need to upgrade my 2002 CBR600F.

I was thinking of either a Yamaha XJ6 or a Kawasaki ER-6.

I prefer the look of the naked models but I'm concerned about rain protection as I've heard the bikes with fairing deflect a lot more rain than bikes with no fairing.
40 of my 60 daily miles are on 50mph+ roads and I ride all year round.

My question is do you think there will be a huge difference in rain protection between the semi naked (front screen and small side fairings)
and full fairings?

I think I have seen the view expressed here that full fairings make a big difference, but I can't say I've ever found that; maybe I just didn't have particularly effective fairing lowers on those bikes I had with full fairings.

A top fairing can make a considerable difference however. For weather protection, I wouldn't be too bothered about whether a bike had fairing lowers.

Lower not so much, upper and a nice screen will probably do wonders. If I was doing miles on the motorway, I'd consider a full fairing.

I know deep down that I should have fairings and I swore to myself that after constant back ache from my CBR that I wouldn't choose looks over practicality so I think guess it's fairings!

I'd rather a tall tourer than a sports bike. V-strom or versys will keep rain off as good as gixxer or 6r. Cbr600f is still as sporty as fuck, even a vfr stretches the back. (Thank Roger.... cycle ergo.) Wear the right gear and nothing matters other than comfort.
