Sexy as puck Very Happy.

So much potential - so little maintenance - unintimidating, friendly, and still capable of making you laugh your arse off Very Happy.

yep maybe my days of sport bike riding are coming to an end Crying or Very sad a BMW R 1200GS would be a nice bike for me in time not sure when but I am starting to see the other side of riding, not fast and concentrating on apexs or balance point but rather more enjoying the ride and environment, still love going fast at the track though! just losing my nerve on the roads with all the latest crashes and near misses I see and hear about Confused

1150 Adventure.

KTM were a bit mean to them, but its kind of understandable because it is a couple of rich actors who wanted to get their bikes for free...

Still wouldn't buy a beemer myself. I think I'd just prefer to tour around the world on roads rather than the rutted bumpy dirt that they had to deal with on the long way round! Wink

Wouldn't buy a KTM either, but thats besides the point!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'll be sure to point you in the direction of this thread next time you're bitching on IRC about your bike not working.

You are right about it being funny; I'm laughing at it right now but the bike can't do that on it's own, it has to be coupled with one of your posts.

KTM wouldn't give them any bikes because KTM were told their bikes wouldn't make it without terminally breaking and the company would end up looking stupid.

BMW seem to have done well out of the publicity Thumbs Up

In every review and biker comment I've read/heard it's always good things about the GS. I'm told they'll also keep up with some of the exotic stuff on the twisties (but lack umph on straights - but that's what you'd expect). One day I'll have to see if one fits and I can cope with the BMW indicators Wink

Indicators are no problem I find them better than the standard arrangement, push left to go left and right to go right, how can anyone get that wrong? I don't and thats saying something. Wink

Compared to some trips been done on the 1150gs and gs Adv Ewans and Charlie's were tame. I have seen vids of them crossing rivers over the top of the seats using a snorkel to the airbox.

The 1200 has not really proved itself as a long distance tourer or globe trotter yet. It seems more aimed at road than dirt track.

Here's a rather cool video of a 1200GS hammering round the Isle of Man.

Nice vid McHaggis _ i definitely want one now.

He/she must know the circuit well or is just super-confident. I didn't think the 1200GS was that quick!

BMW's are for old codgers. Stay well away unless you are over the age of 50. As for Andy's NSR, I like it. I always wanted a NSR as my 125 but I got an RD instead. Only thing I don't like about the newer NSR's is that they look way too low for me. But still wicked bikes.

P.S. Andy I love that helmet its really cool Thumbs Up

I always liked the GS range. (Old godger I may be, though Smile ).

They are a go-anywhere bike that can handle the open road as well. Not sure about all the new fangled gadgets they have these days though.

My parents went around on a BMWR60/6 in the 70s... It was actually a road designed bike, but still very good for crossing deserts on.
