You know... that actually makes it worse! Go read the rules in the highway-code for yellow box junctions! You should not even 'enter' unless your exit is clear!
So lets have a think about this; you were following a car, into a yellow cross hatched intersection... that car slammed on their brakes... you followed in blithely, entering box before it was clear.... and did the same, panic snatched the brake... locked up... went down... and DIDN'T actually hit the car you braked for..... hmmm.
Motorbikes tend to stop a lot faster, on thier wheels than on thier side.... so this sort of implies that you had more than enough room to stop 'safely'.. had you not panic snatched the brake, to 'make' the bike go down.
There, is the main fault... and totally yours. Regardless of what any other motorist did or did not do or maybe should have done.... YOU weren't in control of your vehicle... you panic braked and locked up and caused your own crash....
Beneath that in the clusterfuck... you have the fact that you shouldn't have been there... you were not following the HWC rules, entering yellow box that wasn't clear... more... in traffic, in a junction, you were not observing 'enough' of the traffic conditions around you to see even 'why' you shouldn't have gone there.... any issue over following distance beyond that, IS some-what subjective and rather irrelevent.
Top two issues here, were that you were over riding the road conditions, 'hustling' I presume trying to make progress, ignoring the strict rules of the road, for the sake of saving time... and then got caught out.... and you didn't have the inate machine control, or presence of mind to avoid the fall-out, keeping the bike upright, modulating brake pressure so it didn't lock, and didn't go down.
Take the hit... this was your fault, on many counts... learn from the mistakes... DONT make them again!
And stop trying to shift the blame elsewhere, take it and learn from it.
As to the bike? Little point fixing it, if you are just going to bend it again, doing the same thing because some other driver, dont do what you think they should and 'makes' you fall off again....
But.... get the manual, start taking the panels off, and find the bent or broken bracket or mounting.... straighten or replace. Tryig to bend it back from where falling off has bent it, you will likely just break it or something else in the trying. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

thanks for the very lenghty and unhelpfull advice! if i wanted to ask who was at fault i would have names the title of this post about that, as i didnt it was for advice as to wether its safe to bend the part in question back or not, as i was aware with cetain parts its more dangerous to bend things back, hence the reason for advice.
as for the yellow box junction i dont need to read any highway code as im a professional bus driver by trade therefor im more than aware of the highway code and rules of the road! also given that the exit was completely clear with no obstructions at all there was absolutley no reason for me not to follow into the yellow box behind the veichle in front. however, stopping by an emergency brake in the middle of a yellow box junction for no reason whatsoever is completely unnaceptable given that she has stopped with no intention to turn right as there is no right turn! on top of that im not denying that i am at fault by harshly braking due to only having 6 months experience and this being my very first encounter with an accident so i do accept that i could have possibly avoided this but its happened now and i am here to seek advice on wether it is fixable and if or not i need to replace or mend certain parts.
as for the advice as to not fixing the bike as i will do the same again? im guessing you are perfect and never came into an accident before? given the fact this has happened and im looking for advice on how to fix my issues and get back on and learn from my mistakes personally i feel with make me not only better at fixing the issue myself but it will make me more safe in the future? |
