When I hit around 110-120 the bars start wobbling side to side quickly a small amount. I feel that if I took my hands off (not that I would) it would turn in to a slapper.

Is this normal for an unfaired bike? I checked tyre pressures and they seem ok, 30 and 33.

Have had me cb-1 flat out, the speedo was pointing at the oil light and the revs were 500rpm into the red and it seemed as stable as at 100mph. it only shakes its head a bit at that speed if i clip a cats eye when over taking. Check your head Barings are ok not tight and not loose. A good way to do this is to put it on the centre stand and sit on the back seat to make sure the front wheel is off the ground. If the bars then feel heavy to turn or if there is any play in the front end (up and down or forewards and backwards) then you will need to inspect the head barings. Also check you havnt lost a balencing weight off the front or back wheel as this will cause the wheels to be unbalanced causing the bike to be unstable at high speed. Also naked bikes dont tend to like head winds at speed makes em unstable too.

Hi

All the above is good advice. Also worth making sure that you are not putting any strain on the bars holding yourself on (likely to provoke a weave). Also check off things like the mirrors, especially if they are not the original ones. Maybe try removing them to see if it has any effect. The weight of OE mirrors can be subtstantially greater than cheap aftermarket ones, and this weight is important when dealing with something triggered by resonance (same for the handlebar end weights).

All the best

Keith

Yep, aerodynamics at that kind of speed can make a big difference to the handling.

If you take the belly pan off a GPZ500s and push it up over 110, you get a marked speed wobble that gets worse as speed increases.

Try shifting your weight backwards and forwards on the saddle to see where is best, don't grip the bars too hard, try to keep your forearms paralell to the ground.
