Picked me up an old honda cb125rs wiv a shagged engine. Thinking of dropping in a 250 nighthawk engine then bobbing it out. Any thoughts

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Stick it on ebay with "project" in the title. If it shares parts with the CB250RS, it will sell for parts.

The Nighthawk engine won't fit. You'd be better off just buying a nighthawk, which is already a very light bike.

Don't chop up the frame. Values on them are likely to rise when they get to 40 years old (in the next 2-5 years).

Reminds me.
In days long before this bobber/cafe racer rage I did stick an XL500 lump into a Cb250RS frame
just for a larf.
Didn't ask or expect ( or get) silly money for it though

Right picked up the 250 lump, jumped a car battery onto starter motor n plugged in me compression meter just a rubber push in one so not to accurate but both cylinders came back within couple of psi each other n within range of factory figures
Cum with set of original zortsts wiv rotted out balance pipe carb n a ignition black box guy through in camper as well looks pretty fucked though

Got some workshop time in tonight whoever sayd Honda 125 singles n small twins share same pickups is talking shit, throught it wer some one on here. Lump fits in frame but mounts rong. Cut off rear frame mounts n cut out some metal tabs n wiv some measuring welded em to frame. Used n old chain to check chain alignment fettled front engine mount n cut our nu head stays n the fuckers in

Bike was running a lexmoto lump for it went pop n think they fitted loom from it cos it ain't Honda. Anyroad looking at loom found alternator wires same 3 yellows so soldered n shrink wrapped em. Ignition black box wiring different 250 black box different but 250 black box mate helped me find wiring diagram and fabbed up ignition loom using original feed to ignition switch avent got a twin ht lead cool so gunna get our lad to order me one off eBay then can see if she's a runner. No reason why not electrically as all wiring checked wiv multimeter.

My thoughts
Fab up a connection to air box or use pod filter
Front brak looks a bit Weedy, 250 caliper don't fit forks bit could make up adaptor plate
Biffed all original bodywork tank fucked n can't be are to weld it up n don't like shape got a old brit bike tank in loft looks bit like harley sporster tank should match look I want. All Honda plastics cracked n scratched so biffed as well gonna use old chrome front muddy for rear n some polished luminum plate fer side panels

This reminds me of an evening, during Pink Floyd's 'Dark-Side of the Lagoon' concert, Venice'89.. large quantities of Asti-Spumante were consumed, mainly because it was cheaper than bottled water! And the plastic corks popped out like from a Champagne bottle, and we were trying to see how far from the hotel balcony we could fire them.... when there was a very shrill scream from below.... five girls from Burnley, were sunbathing on the beach beneath... and hit by the spray.....

I duly did the gentle-manly 'thing', and took a full bottle down to them, and offered to lick their bikini's dry.....

The remainder of the evening was spent, when my Canadian half-brother was delegated to go find out why I hadn't come back, followed closely by two salivating students... acting as 'translator, between a Northern Irishman, the Canadian bother, a Geordie, and the Lancaster lasses....

Talk about nations divided by a common language!! lol.... b-u-t? With more cheap plonk than coverage, I don't think any-one really cared all that much!

So, in the immortal words of the Lancastrian Lassie.....

"Wot-cha-fukin-se?"

Same here. I gave up trying to read it after a few words. Why the hell should anyone be expected to read such unintelligible gibberish I do not know. Sorry, but really.
