NT650V Fuel Gauge

I picked up a 2000 NT650V from Copart earlier, after some faffing about getting the clutch cable fixed I was on my merry way home. About 30 minutes into the journey home I suddenly realised I hadn't checked the fuel. Panic stricken I quickly went to check the fuel gauge and... there is none! Maybe it's just me being THICK but I've looked everywhere and can't find one.

Am I missing something, does someone know where it's supposed to be, maybe it's in a hidden compartment? Could it be these were simply built without a fuel gauge? Or maybe it was broken off when it was dropped LOL.

Open the fuel cap, and look inside, can you hear sploshing as you wiggle the bike?

Fill it up, zero the trip meter, run till reserve, you now have your rough range, zero each fill up.

There are still bikes being brought out now without a fuel gauge, the Ducati Scrambler springs to mind, i believe it does have a low fuel light though, but no actual gauge, pretty sure the Triumph Street Twin only has a fuel light too
