Worst average mpg I've gotten on my GSX-R is 35. Freeway mileage hovers just over 45 at 75mph.

I suspect the 600 will be better when ridden at the same speed as the 400 as you will need to thrash it less.

Of course if you go even faster, it's probably going to be less Smile.

Can't remember what the ZXR did, but R6 was about 120 to a tank (including reserve) and the SV is meant to be about 150+ but so far I've managed 110 and 125 miles to a full tank Laughing

Think my VFR400 normally does 40-50 depending on your style of riding. I once had a 59.7mpg average over a distance of 300 miles by cruising at 70mph though.

My ZXR did 165miles on Sunday and hadn't yet hit the reserve, that cost £12, tank was brimmed, variety of roads, speeds, mostly twisties and straights.

All in all, pretty damn good Thumbs Up

Oh, been told to add, that was 2-up.

My CBR600 will do 48mpg on my commute into work (80mph for 18 miles, 8 miles at 50mph and then 20mph for the last 2 miles).
It goes down a bit when riding for fun or travelling very fast but never less than high 30s.

Hi

Depends a lot on how you are using it. Commuting use I get about 52mpg out of the FZR600, but much of that is down very twisty lanes. Incidently about 4mpg better than I got out of the 600 Diversion in the same use.

Is that per US gallon? If so they are 0.8 of an Imperial (UK) gallon, so those work out at about 44mpg and 56mpg.

All the best

Keith

i dunno on my 600 yet, can't afford to fill it up full Evil or Very Mad and i can't go on reserve ( equals more petrol coming out of fuel tap, then in carbs), so i'm only doing about 60 miles, then filling with about £7

My zx6r, in normal road use avaerages in the low-mid 50's, but its done as much as 63mpg once, and the worst ive had is still 48mpg. I know im not trying hard enough!

I dont think that in terms of fuel costs, there will be much in it between 400 or 600cc, and so its one of the running costs that you shouldnt really worry about, compared to tyres, insurance etc.
I could afford the fuel costs on a GSXRthou, no worries, but the other factors like insurance, rate of tyre wear, servicing costs, are the real factors that will affect your choice of bike, in terms of what you can afford to run.
