Sanya 2010 125cc

this bike is not mine I bought it for my son I have a Triumph Trophy SE lol okay got a little problem the Sanya brake light is perfect the tail light is very dim when I connect multi meter to the brake light I get 12V or close to it when I connect it to the tail light I get 3 to 4V so I can see the new LED light is not getting the voltage when I disconnect the wire from the light it shows 12V when I reconnect it to the light it drops done the battery earth strap both ends but somewhere along the line I think it may be shorting out anyone else had this problem the tail light is just very dim had to put a new light on as old one got broken while bike was parked so the wiring from the bike is showing 12V when I try the light the new one on a 9V household battery it all works as it should so the lights fine and it would seem so is the bike wiring its only when I connect it to the light I get voltage drop i'm very confused any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance and I will post if I find the problem in the hopes it may help others thanks again Mike
