Low cost torque wrench

Morning folks...

My wrench has gone AWOL.

Can anyone recommend a low cost replacement that will do the job til the old one reappears?

I have two Halfords professional torque wrenches. The magazines and so on all say they are very accurate. I don't think they are *cheap* cheap, but they are good value.

Think mine is Teng Tools - got two - about £60 each (VAT-free) from a local hardware store.

Very good - quality, accurate and lifetime warranty.

I was unable to find one for the whole bike, so it had to be two. First is up to 25NM and second 25-45NM-ish (roughly - I'll check tomorrow).

T bar type torque wrenches are the cheapest, and IIRC are supposed to be more accurate than the ratchest type, and never lose precision.

picked up the magnussen one as well in the end, was cheap in screwfix and more expensive elsewhere so I've pretended it's a deal.

I'm sure my old one will show up in short order.

The 1/2" one is only used for the large requirements like wheel nuts on the car and suspension components.Saying that,the primary drive securing nut on the KTM was specified as 150nm but there was no way that I could reach that figure as everything moved around too much.

The smaller ones are ideal for items like cam cover bolts which require only a very small setting.The dials are a lot easier to use as I find that clicker type require too much swing and in reduced work areas it is not that easy to use the 3/8" one

Luckily a friend has the right facilities at his work place so that they can all be checked for calibration.

£44. Falls outside your 15-20 start requirement but is cheap enough if can fit into the space you require.

Can pick up a cheap twist one with measurements on the handle at a half decent tool shop for not much money.
