I remember getting my first Fuzzy 50 and thinking it went like a rocket, later I got a Superdream and was blew away by the speed and acceleration. Then had a blast on my mates Bonneville and was gobsmaked by the power......

In the past 10 years with bikes routinely making over 130 bhp I've never had that feeling on anything I've riden. The thrill of scaring yourself shitless through a big jump in power will never happen to me again. So don't be in a hurry to jump onto the biggest, fastest , most powerful machine you can get your hands on, coz once you get there you'll miss that sphincter tightening feeling of throwing a leg over something in a different league to what you've experienced before.

Just ride a 125 or 50 for a week and go back to your bike.

I have had to do that whilst my cx was being fixed. The thrill of having that power again did come back. Not to the extent of the first time, but it was still an ace feeling.

I had the same thing earlier this year, jumping back on the busa after driving a Ford Ka through the winter. Although I'm starting to find the power a little bit boring now.

I've had a blast on an R1 from my 600 and found that to be a huge jump up, so was coming from an ER5 whilst learning to ride and then taking my Kwak out about an hour after I passed my test.

I'll never forget passing 8k rev's in second and think 'oh fuck' !!!!!

Couldn't agree more. Thumbs Up

Though a winter spent in a diesel hatchback does wonders to recalibrate your sense of what's fast. Laughing

Screwing every last ounce of umph from a 125 to get it to just reach 60, whilst it feels like it's about to go pop, the wheels about to fall off and the suspension about to snap and your arse going numb from the vibration and bumps feels fast.

Get on a larger machine with a better quality ride and one which the engine doesn't have to do 10000 rpm in top gear to get to 60 and then I doubt it'd be anything like as scary (125 scary is fun in a perverse way) and certainly not feel as fast.

That's one thing i like about driving a deisel transit at work all day. Vertually any car feels like a serious high performance vehicle, and as for riding a bike, it feels like strapping yourself to a missile compared to all day spend struggling to keep above 50mph, on the open road.

I was thinking the exact same thing on my way home today .

I was thinking that speed is like a drug you crave more but you get used to it after a while so you need something more faster but then you get used to that and so on......
