I've used the Chinese cheapo topbox linked here by kramdra, in fact I've had 3 of them, on scooters and a YBR125. They're cheap and nasty, rattle, and if you don't pay attention to the single (!) hand-screwed bolt, they can work themselves loose with vibrations. I would only use them again as a last resort. I'd consider bolting one onto a second-hand rear seat if I wanted a top-box on a bike that otherwise would be hard to fit. I'd consider the unit disposable; whereas arms are resalable and boxes can be moved from bike to bike.
When I got the ER6, I tried a Kappa topbox with a moto-detail rack. The rack snapped on one side from metal fatigue + vibrations, just behind its first mount point, after a single trip to Wales.
Then I went with the Givi arms (didn't require disemboweling an 07 ER6f) and an E55 Maxia. The Givi items were far higher quality, with lots of rubber washers to dampen vibrations at various places, and elongated cross-section to take the primary load.
When I got the VFR, I went immediately for the Givi arms for it. On the VFR, there's 6 attachment points, it's even more solid than the ER6 kit. I've had a little more than 10kg in there at 150mph on the Autobahn, no wobbles or instability.
Moral of the story: Givi is the minimum level of aftermarket quality that I'd trust. OEM Honda is better again, but expensive.
The E55 is big enough to store two lids vertical, side by side. Probably could fit two in a 44L box, but it might depend on the lids, and you might need them on their sides. My Kappa box is 44L but won't fit my helmet vertically, and I have attachments that stop it fitting on its side. Shape matters. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
