After this happened, I was sitting on the side of the road for about an hour before I finally thought I should push my bike back to the nearest village (not too far). I was quite glad that a few people stopped to see if I was alrite, there was:

Arrow 2 out of 4 bikers (they were middle aged, on huge bikes but very nice to talk to Smile )

Arrow 1 out of 40 cars, vans and landrovers that could have taken me somewhere, and he ony offered me petrol, as he thought i was empty (but nice all the same for him to stop)

It was actually a nice day so I just sat on the grass for an hour before pushing my bike the 1/4 mile back to welham (village)

Then I sat in a car park for a further 3 hours before getting picked up by my dad in a van.

As I wasnt sure wether my tpft insurance covers breakdowns, I didnt bother asking them.

What does everyone else do to pass the time in the middle of nowhere when you break down?

And how many people stopped for you?

0 out of about 300 cars.

0 out of about 5 >125cc scooters. (I hate people on big scooters now Razz)

*edit*

There was one time where I ran out of fuel and 1 biker in a car stopped and helped. (Ran out of petrol on a masive roundabout in the dark in winter)

When I broke down on the NS loads of people stopped!

One guy from a pub we drink in which is really popular with bikers actually drove past me in his car with his trailer on and did a burly to come back down and see if there was anything he could do - as the engine had seized there wasn't.

There was also various different works vans and lorries stopped and asked if they could help and a couple of cars also!

I had already phoned the AA, but I betcha if I hadn't been a member of a breakdown recovery place that no-one would have stopped!!! That would have been sods law!

The other week after the Scottish Bike Show, we were on our way home in the car and we were in the outside lane doing about 80mph when we notice a biker stopped on the hard shoulder - he was sitting back on the grass with his phone - we were in the wrong position to stop but there were LOADS of bikers just riding past him! Thumbs Down

Hows this then.

I had a TZR125, great bike, shit electrics.
The lights went on the way home, I was 4 miles from my house on the dual carriage way.
No cars at all at this time of night, I saw a blue battered Nova pass on the other side, didn’t think twice about it.
About 3 mins later a car pulled up behind me, a biker who was driving to his place saw me and came back!
A nice chap with a beard, hurt himself riding motor cross as I found out, took to just road riding, he was riding a army Kawasaki with side car at the time.
He couldn’t sort the bike out so he followed me all the way to my house with his lights on me, when we got back he gave me some tips to find the faults. He said to me “Maybe our paths will cross again sometime”

2 years later I have bought a TS125 and had a problem with it, the guy I bought it off recommended a mechanic so I popped round, after some more visits to him, in his garage is……That guy!!!!

I've broken down a couple of times and thankfully i've had a few fellow bikers stop each time. Thanks to them i now always stop if i see another biker in need of some help. Razz

After all we want to make people see that biking is a friendly and helpful society. How many car drivers do you see stoping for each other?

If you're out there, many thanks to the guys that stopped to help last august near chippenham. Thumbs Up

I stopped in the car the other morning to see if a lad on a 125 with L's was ok.

He said yeah he was waiting for someone to bring him fuel.

Stopped on the M4 jn11 roundabout on Saturday cos the battery had become disconnected. T'was lovely the way everyone just swerved around me. Rolling Eyes Though to be fair, I was there about 3 mins before I got it going again.

Sat on the hard shoulder of the M4 when my Scottoiler fell off, no help there either. But again, wasn't there all that long.

I've stopped to help the abandoned a few times so I like to think that if I'd really broken down, someone would eventually stop to see if I was okay.

I broke down yesterday and 4 bikers stopped and one asked if I was ok and rode on after I said yes.

Two of the guys yesterday even helped to try and get me going again, one suceeded but the bike cut out shortly after anyway.

It was nice to see so many bikers stop yesterday too!

Unfortunatly it seems the GPZ is knackered again though as its suspected that my coil has cracked thus making warm starting majorly bad and causing the cutting out.

When my honda broke down, i had to push it 2 and a half miles home including up a hill. No-one stopped, no-one helped. Not even my next door neighbour who is a friend. People suck.

Rain got the sparkplug wet today, causing the bike to turn off every time I applied power.

One other bike passed me who gave me a wierd look, as I was pushing the ped down the road Very Happy Also had a few people swearing and beeping at me, but not much I could do. Lovely folk, the Cornish...

Eventually my mates realised I'd gone missing, and they found me just as I'd coaxed the ped back to life. Decided to call it a day after that Wink

One car stopped for me after I had a minor off in the middle of nowhere last year. I'd already hauled the bike out of a ditch and got it upright by then, but was still covered in mud and wet grass. The couple in the car asked if I was alright then drove off after I said "yes thanks".

A policeman drove by going the other way a few minutes later and didn't stop to see if I was alright Confused Neutral

I've stopped for plenty of bikers in the past - either when I've been in the car, or on my bike - okay, I can't offer much help if they've broken down rather than run out of petrol, but at least I can offer the use of a mobile phone and see that the rider is alright and not hurt in any way Exclamation

My Senda went a few times and no one would stop, apart from a lady i worked with and she only stopped to laugh.

My Cagiva has gone big style twice. The first time was NYE and i was about 10K from home. No bikers stopped as there were none. A handful of cars stopped to offer petrol. 4 hours later i got home.

The other time one car stopped to offer their garden to store it in and a lift home.

I've stopped plenty of times and even gone out of my way to give people lifts. What comes around should go around.

Pouring rain, bike cut out and had to push it rest of the way home...hundreds of cars past me and only one biker and he was the only one that stopped. No one else could give a f*ck typical car drivers...

I always stop if a bike has broken down, and would like to think people would do the same if it was me.

Last time I stopped was on the M54 between Telford and Wolverhampton for a Harley fully loaded his front wheel bearing had collapsed. He said he was waiting for the recovery lorry to come.

Apparently he was going to Russia touring and had just started from Shrewsbury but didn't get very far.
Oh well I hope he made it the rest of the way. Wink

i've never actually seen a bike broken down (ever), lol i've never realised that till just now. I've stopped for plenty of cars, given them a lift to a petrol station and back and to a phone. Gave one man a lift to his house after he had broken down and was making his way home by foot (good 5-6 miles away)

You don't have to be blonde, just being female helps.

I haven't broken down for a long time (touches wood), but I've always had people stop for me.

However, I don't depend on it. It's always a good plan (especially as a woman) to have some "Come and Get Me" cover!

When I was broken down for 45 minutes in the pouring rain nobody stopped, I put that down to owning a ped though. Wink

Ladies all you'd have to do is let out a bit of cleavage and you'd even have car drivers stopping to help. Rolling Eyes Wink

Last sunday, I stopped to have a fag and wait for White Noise, I had 13 bikers stop to see if I was OK (even had a police bike stop)

Same again today, had 5 bikers stop to see if I was OK.

Going to have to find somewhere discreet to pull over for a sneaky fag.
