				| Right, off on a solo trip on the CB650F in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it but any tips experiences that could be shared would be great.
I did a solo trip to the South of Spain a couple of years ago, and in terms of what I will do differently this time, 1) no camping 2)travel by ferry not chunnel, 3) no more than 5 hours of riding per day.

Booked me an airbnb near gueux in France (former F1 circuit) the first night then a hotel near Bodensee.

Got about 5 days in Germany, want to visit black forest, Austria /Switzerland loop south of bodensee, Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, and finally the Merc museum in stuttgart probably on the way home.

Any experiences or tips on these areas would be great , most importantly where is the best black forest gateau?

Also any quirks of riding in Deutschland generally?

Don't know if it's the best, but had a gorgeous one at Wolfach:

 Pretty little town, too:

				| Lake Constance is nothing special except for the nice view over to Swiss Alps (if not foggy/rainy)
Very busy congested road along the North Shore.
There's a nice ride not far into Austria goes up to two dams its called Silvretta - there's a toll but it's worth it.
You can see their webcam here
 https://www.montafon.at/en/service/webcams
It's still very snowy but is usually open by now they will soon clear it.

				| Switzerland is feckin expensive, but worth it at least once if you go to the right places. The Susten/Grimsel/Furka pass loop is worth at least a couple of days, with great roads, some sublime views and many cafes to stop at to soak it all up. Nufenen Pass is worth the ride too, and +1 for Lauterbrunnen for scenery, Grindelwald too.
It's the connecting roads between the best spots that are tedious (50mph limits and always concerned about speed cameras - fines are allegedly frightening), although I stayed off of all toll roads. From the roads I used, you could see many of the toll routes backed up with traffic anyway.

See the trip in my sig. for more

				| we followed chickenstrips advice and stayed in Wolfach. it was indeed a nice peaceful little town and a good base for trips north and south. we found a nice biker friendly place for dinner just south of there on the edge of Gutach too... very friendly, very good english, very good very large schnitzel for like 6.50
the b&b place gave us a small barn to keep our bikes in too, and were very hospitable with tools and clutch fluid for my mate's aprilia. it was called Josenhof

Nice to hear that worked out for you
Staying there would have been death by calories for me though

				| It wasn't a bakery I stopped at, it was a cafe/restaurant on that main road, seating outside.
In actual fact, Black Forest Gateau, or any confectionary, hadn't been on my mind, but then I saw this huge monstrosity on display at the counter, among other similarly dangerous concoctions and, well, there just wasn't any way I could see to avoid it!

				| Nice!
the place we span by for the cakes in Hochenschwand was only because on a car trip to Italy previously we realised we were pretty much leaving the area and still hadn't had the famous cake. so we stopped and googled and that happened to only be a 2 mile detour from wherever it was we were, in heavy rain. so this time we aimed for it as the food, coffee, and service had been excellent 2 years prior. the ladies working there were still wearing the olde costumes too, and a vintage tractor parade of some sort came past while we were eating on the balcony
