I was looking at a 1992 Cagiva Mito the other day. It has done 33k kilometers and is in pretty good condition.

Really i would like to know what they are like to own. Are they reliable, easy to use etc

If there's any cagiva owners out there who could give me any advice about them i would be very grateful. Very Happy

if you warm it and use gpood oil and throash it everywhere they are reliable'ish, if you dont they are the most unreliable bike ever. poor build quality means that if you dont wash and spray protection on it the bike it will rust like mad, also the paintowork faids if left out all summer.
basicly if your willing to put a lot of time into it the their great, very fast and handle well. but if you dont then god help you!!!

Ok well, do the usual checks on the Mito, as it is second hand.

Chain, Oil, spark plug (if you can), tyres, brakes and lights.
Cosmetically they can look shit hot, but you have to ask for a quick look under the plastic fantastic shell.
Have a ride of it, check clocks work.
I’m saying all of this and I know it is all regular stuff but Mito is renowned for one thing to go wrong and then it snowballs.
Make sure they have some history of the bike as at around those miles you are looking at new piston etc. The gear boxes are usually in good nick, they are pretty hard wearing.

Generally though if you get a good one and maintain it well, oil changes, spark plugs all things above you will have something to smile about.
Depending on your income will determine how long the Mito lasts. Don’t bother with upgrades, most don’t need them. Spend it on a good service and go from there.
Go onto eBay and for about a fiver you can get a factory manual.

You will not regret owning a Mito I can guarantee that. They are rapid. Fully de-restricted and slightly tuned they can be known to hit 120mph. But 110 seems good enough to me. In my opinion they look better and perform much better than the RS. I did consider getting one but insurance proved to be a large barrier. But I'm sure there is many fun times to come. Thumbs Up
