automatic transmission/electric starter/electric choke on carburetor

When I want to start, I have to go full throttle (and I mean FULL). And engine sounds like I didn't even touch the throttle. Quiet. But 5 seconds after starting, throttle starts to behave normally, if I go full, it really screams. But not during starting. It also likes to die in idle.

I just finished taking apart carburetor and cleaning it, which didn't change anything. Question

Its the electric choke and/or the idle circuit. If you didn't remove the mixture screw and blow carb cleaner down the hole when you cleaned the carb then the circuit could be clogged.
Otherwise, electric choke isn't working. Usually because it isn't plugged in, the wiring to it is knackered, or the plunger is stuck closed.

I found a video on a testing electric choke. I will do that tomorrow.

Mixture screw was cleaned.

Does the fuel tap have a vacuum setup on it? It sounds like the carb is filling the float chamber with fuel and then it works properly.

Does it drink fuel like I, erm, drink Stella?

I remember during todays cleaning of carburetor: Rubber hose from fuel tank to carburetor continued to bleed after disconnecting it from carburetor. This shouldn't happen? Or should?

--------------EDIT-----------------

I spent last hour Googling and you opened a whole new world to me. So what I think that I understand now is, that problem is my 2 port petcock. Which is drowning my carburetor. Because I should have there 3 port petcock. With additional intake of vacuum from carburetor, that would regulate flow of fuel.

Previous owner replaced 3 port petcock with 2 port. And threw away vacuum line. And I should go back to solve this problem.

Is that right?

IIRC a vacuum activated petcock just saves you remembering to turn a tap I don't think it does much in the way of regulating the flow of fuel.

My money's on the choke.

I was never manually closing/opening a petcock. I just let it sit with petcock ON since I bought it. Confused Confused Confused

Right now I'm about to go do that test on choke anyway, so I will see.
