Charging bike battery

Hi I've recently aquired a Speedfight 100. Unfortuantly the battery is nearly flat and hardly turns over the engine with the estart.

I can't really depend on the kickstart as it's wearing down and should only be used for "emergencies".

I didn't receive the red key to program the immoboliser so I was wondering if I removed the battery would that reset the immoboliser?
Also could I charge it with it still plugged into the bike.

Yes charge it in situ, the Optimisers etc all charge in situ. Very Happy

Try an Optimate Charger...

They keep the battery charged continually and regulate the charge being put into it so the battery doesn't get damaged by overcharging.

They cost approximately £40.00 but there are other makes out there that are a bit cheaper (I'm pretty sure Oxford do one that's slightly cheaper).

One of the essential pieces of biking kit of you're not riding everyday imho.

Not gonna work as the battery doesn't charge on tickover I am afraid. Only after a certain amount of revs AFAIK. Smile

Cheers for all the replies guys, do most of the chargers allow situ as I don't know if the immoboliser will reset itself?

My immobiliser doesn't reset itself if you remove the battery as it has it's own internal one to compensate.

It does throw a mental though cos it thinks the bike's being nicked. Should really read the instructions and learn how to disable that.

How close can you get your bike to your house or even better still a garage and I do know that the Draper battery recharger sold in Halfords can be hooked up to a bike's battery while still in the bike and not disconnected.

So, I think that's the best option for you because your bike's immobiliser will possibly prevent the bike from running as the bike's battery had been disconnected and you'll have to enter an unlocking code.
