Any reason to buy Kriega R25 rather than R30 backpack?

Want a backpack. R30 is totally waterproof. R25 is not.

Any reason that makes the R25 better in certain situations? Asked another way, what is the downside of buying an R30 vs the R25?

Am I being a bit thick here? I would have thought the main difference between the R25 & R30 would be the 2.5 vs 3.0 litre capacity

Ah well... in that case it's just whether you're into roll-tops or not I suspect the R25 would be fine in a shower though.

If you live in the SE I wouldn't worry so much. I have a cheap-ass Bike-It bag pretty much made out of tissue paper and that's been fine. The zip design on the R25 looks like the water would have little chance of creeping in.

I'm no Kriega historian.. but...

I think the R25 was the original backpack they made. It was never certified to be waterproof (no roll top as you say), but it has survived many a storm for me.

It has waterproof zips and other features in an attempt for it to to survive even pretty bad storm conditions.

The R30 came out and the R25 is now no longer seen as waterproof in everyone's eyes, but in my experience the R25 is a very capable bag.

I took mine to the TT this year, it rained a lot, and everything was perfect.

R30 for guaranteed waterproofness. R25 if you prefer the smaller capacity / layout / design.
